ORDER NO 5. AIR CADET LEADERSHIP COURSE, RAF COLLEGE CRANWELL 2013
10.Applications are now invited for the 2013 Series of Air Cadet Leadership Courses (ACLCs). Theses courses will be held at RAF College Cranwell and will be held on the following dates:

11.To be eligible for these courses cadets must be 16 years old before the first day of the course for which they are applying, but not reached their 18 birthday on orbefore the last day of the course, be medically and physically fit, and expected to have at least one year left to serve in the Corps. Applicants are to complete a supervised, timed 1 ½ mile run and enter the time on their application form. The courses are designed to prepare lower-ranking cadets for senior positions in their squadrons and therefore the senior rank permitted on ACLC is Cadet Sergeant.
12.An Application form is at Annex A and can be copied. Sqn Cdrs should ensure that the forms are received by their Wg HQs by 7 Mar 13. Wings should staff the applications through ACRHQs by 22 Mar 13, so that all forms can reach HQAC (attn CCF Admin) by
12 Apr 13. A separate letter is being issued to Wg and Regional HQs detailing the selection procedure at each level.
13.HQAC requires only application forms by 12 Apr 13. Do not send anything else initially. Joining instructions (JIs) will be sent to each successful cadet during May. The JIs will call for cheques, medical forms and confirmation of attendance and HQ AC must receive all these before cadets are finally admitted to their course. The cost of the ACLC is £40 per cadet.
14.Adult Staff. Traditionally, ATC adult personnel have made a significant contribution to the success of the Air Cadet Leadership Courses. We would be delighted if this trend could continue. Accordingly, it should be noted that RAFVR(T) officers, CIs, WOs (ATC), FS and Sgt (ATC) are again required to fill positions as Staff for the 4 Air Cadet Leadership Courses to be held at RAF Cranwell during period 6 Jul to 2Aug 13. These positions include training officers, flight commanders, adjutants, drill instructors and training support. Volunteers should be fit, smart and enthusiastic. Familiarity with the conduct of RAF leadership exercises would be an advantage, but guidance is given on the course. The right to claim pay and allowances for ACLCs is not automatic. Successful applicants must seek permission for this through their own chain of command.

NOTES FOR COMPLETION - for advice contact CCF Admin, HQ AC - 01400 2671591. Cadet - Arrange for adult staff to time you over a 1½mile run. Then, neatly and clearly, complete PART A.
2. Sqn Cdr - Check that the cadet is eligible (see CRO). Check the form is totally complete, including the Certificate of Witness on page 2. Then complete PART B and forward form to Wing HQ by 7 Mar 13.
3. Wing HQ – Collate application forms from your AOR and forward to ACRHQ by 22 Mar 13
4. ACRHQ - Nominate successful cadets to the scale that will be issued from HQAC. Send all forms to HQ AC (attn CCF Admin) by 12 Apr 13. Successful and unsuccessful cadets are to be clearly separated.

ACLC 2013 - NOTES (CADETS REMOVE AND KEEP - DO NOT RETURN WITH APPLICATION)
EQUIPMENT. All candidates are required to supply their own kit for the course. A list of the main items of kit required is printed below for information. A full list will be sent to successful candidates with joining instructions.
JOINING INSTRUCTIONS. Joining Instructions, including details of the location of RAF Cranwell, travel information, full clothing and equipment requirements, will be forwarded to successful candidates in May 13. Cadets who do not receive Joining Instructions (JIs) by 30 May 13 can assume that they have not been selected, but should stand by as a reserve if they have indicated their willingness to do so.
COST. The course entry fee is £40. This is for messing and incidental expenses. JIs in May will provide further details and cheques are not to be sent until called for in JIs.
MEDICAL. JIs will also include a medical proforma for return to HQ AC. This will include a declaration, to be signed by the person having responsibility for the cadet, that the cadet has no medical condition or injury which will hinder him/her on a course which includes very demanding and strenuous activities.
CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT. The following minimum of clothing and equipment is to be taken to RAF Cranwell by all cadets:
a.All items of approved blue uniform (including Jeltex jacket) and parade shoes/boots.
b.Combat Clothing. This must include a Jacket DPM Field (the heavier combat jacket). The only acceptable wear under the DPM Jacket is a plain olive green or DPM shirt or T-shirt. One olive course T-shirt will be issued on the course. Note - the Jacket DPM Combat Lightweight is acceptable as an inner shirt, but not as an outer jacket.
c.Coveralls.
d.Large poncho or bivvy sheet. Bungees or cord. Tent pegs. (Bivvy kit)
e.Waterproofs (military and civilian). Woolly hat.
f.Pair of serviceable but well broken in black boots. Spare pair of boots. Boot polish. Spare laces. (Any cadet with un-broken in boots could have difficulty in completing the physical aspects of the course).
g.Sports kit, including trainers or running shoes suitable for outdoor use.
h.Civilian clothes suitable for travel and wear on RAF Stations. Coat-hangers.
i.One large rucksack or military-style holdall for camp phase (a suitcase is not suitable) and
one small rucksack or day sack for walks etc.
j.Sleeping bag and roll mat / portable sleeping mat.
k.Alarm clock.
l.Washing Kit, (2 towels), Hair equipment.
m.Water Bottle, mess tins, knife, fork and spoon, mug.
n.Compass, torch.
o.Waterproof notebook, pen and pencil.
p.Sun block and insect repellent.
q.2 pairs thin socks, 2 pairs thick woollen socks.
