In consideration for being permitted to participate in any way in horse sport activities, I, the undersigned, understand, acknowledge and accept that: Horse sports are a dangerous activity and horses can act in a sudden and unpredictable (changeable) way, especially if frightened or hurt. I agree to follow the directions of any event organiser or official and that any misconduct or refusal by me to follow any direction of any organiser or official can result in the CANCELLATION of my participation in the activities and my immediate removal from my horse NO MATTER where that may occur.

Equestrian Australia, as part of its member education services, has provided school based riders with access to their Introductory and Level 1 Riding and Introductory and Level 1 Horse Management workbooks at a discounted price for use in the Tasmanian SuperSchool programme.

The theory components of EA training are delivered in a flexible home-study manner using comprehensive workbooks and recommended readings which can be supplemented using your own coach or through “group training”.

Practical study may be done through the SuperSchool group training programme, if there are sufficient numbers otherwise students can undertake this individually with coaches, coach educators or other industry experts.

Is this for me?
Maybe you aspire to work within the horse industry when you finish school or maybe you just want something to fill in your time over the school holidays. In all cases successful completion of modules are registered with the EA coordinator as they form part of the pathway to further education.

The minimum age for the EA national education courses is fixed at;

  • 12 years for Intro Horse Management & Intro Riding (Tasmanian SuperSchools program)
  • 15 Years for Level 1 Horse Management & Level 1 Riding
  • 18 years for a Coaching award – starting with Introductory Coach

Assessments will be carried out by Coach Educators (CE’s) or Skills Specific Training Assessors (SSTA’s) (Introductory courses only).

Riders 18 years and over can progress toward becoming an Introductory NCAS Coach with the purchase of the appropriate resource.

Once the Introductory Horse Management and Introductory Riding modules have been completed, the Level I Horse Management and Riding modules provide another opportunity for further study and this may also be purchased through the state office for School aged participants.

What’s Next?

Fill in the SuperSchool enrolment form and return to the Equestrian Tasmania office.

How do I get assessed?

Please view the coach list available on the Equestrian Tasmania’s website and select Coach Educators or Skills Specific Trainer or Assessor. CE’s and SSTA’s can sign your assessments sheets once you have completed your workbooks. All you need to do is book a session and take your completed workbook along when you are ready.

SuperSchool Assessment Days

Alternatively, you can be assessed by attending an Education Assessment Day. Depending on numbers enrolled in the course, we hope to hold at least one of these days a year. This gives you a chance to have your assessment slips signed off at a discounted rate.

Talk to your local EA NCAS coach to see if they will arrange a day for you and your friends to be assessed.
