PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE – 2010/2011 President: Karen Watson
April and early May are times that are packed full of great activities in Hackberry Creek. With the Taste of Hackberry coming up on April 30th, and the community Yard Sale on May 7, it will be a busy spring. Other things to look forward to include a free concert on May 15 and a Wine Tasting event on May 21. The Gourmet, International Dining, Pot Luck and other dinner groups will continue to meet. Of course the SIG regulars—including Bridge, Bunco, Book Clubs, Mah Jongg and Mom’s groups will continue to meet.
If you haven’t joined a SIG group yet, it is never too late. Many of the groups will continue to meet over the summer. And, if you are interested in starting a new Special Interest Group, think about it now because the new season will begin again in August with the chance to get others to join your SIG.
Enjoy the spring!
Regards,
Karen Watson

If you enjoy the act of reaching out to your fellow neighbors in need, please join us!
You will discover that you have two hands. One is for helping yourself and the other is for helping others.'--Audrey Hepburn. It is in this spirit that The Women's Club of Hackberry Creek reaches out to help fellow residents in need. We gladly arrange for meals to be prepared to those who could use a helping hand after surgery, a birth, or a death in the family. Just ask around, many residents will tell you that one of the greatest aspects of our Village is the kindness and generosity with which we help each other. We are proud to assist in this endeavor.
Please notify Shogher Ainsworth if you hear of a family who could benefit from Hackberry Helpers or if you would like to assist with meals.

Mah Jongg is an ancient Chinese tile game, involving skill, strategy, and calculation, as well as a certain degree of luck. Each player has a set of tiles and tries to match them to make a hand to win.We do place bets in the amounts of 25 to 50 cents. It is it is a very enjoyable and social game that is addictive to play. Because we can't get enough of it we play twice a month: the second Tues. and the fourth Tues. of the month at 7pm. The location rotates among players homes.
MOMS NIGHT OUT
Chairperson: Amy Kennedy
MNO was entertained by the fabulous chefs at Hoshi Hibachi in April. We all enjoyed hibachi and sushi and the fun cooking show. May is a great month to try a Mexican Restaurant in our area. MNO will head to Seen Salsa's for Mexican food and Margarita's!
POT LUCK
Chairperson: Marci Barton
Potluck meets the 2nd Saturday night (but we are flexible) of every other month beginning in October and ending in June. Couples and singles are welcome. Each person or couple brings a dish to pass and their favorite beverages to last through the evening. The hostess provides ice, water, utensils and plates and creates the theme for the evening. The hostess usually provides a main course entree just to make sure we have enough food on hand. We know 3 or 4 days prior to the event who is coming because of our "Evite" system of notification. We are always looking for new hostesses, and generally speaking our events yield between 20 and 35 people.
Potluck with a Spring Theme is April 23rd at the home of Kyle and Sandra Ahlfinger. We're looking forward to seeing all our Potluck friends to enjoy this wonderful weather.
