Temporary Visa Type I (VITEM I)

This type of visa is applicable to foreigners traveling to Brazil as researchers, visiting professors, students on certain categories of exchange, voluntary workers, internships, members of cultural and/or scientific missions and for the training of sports.

In all the cases, the following applies:

·  Fill out the on-line visa application form. Click here (https://scedv.serpro.gov.br/frscedv/index.jsp). When you open the link, please press on the message "CONTINUE TO THIS WEB SITE".

·  Print the ¨Visa Form Delivery Receipt¨, paste a picture and sign it. This receipt has to be delivery at the Consular Section with the following documents:

·  Passport (valid for at least six months);

·  Certificate of Criminal Record or an equivalent document (for applicants over 18 years);

·  Original letter from the institution in Brazil explaining the purpose of the trip;

·  Proof of means of support during the stay of the applicant in Brazil (bank statements, pay slips or credit cards are accepted as proof) or letter from the institution in Brazil, taking responsibility for the applicant during its entrance, stay and leave;

·  Copy or original receipt of the deposit of the Consular Fee (see details bellow).

Consular fees and processing time:

·  The consular fee for a Temporary Visa Type I is DKK 420,00.For US Passports only, a processing fee of DKK 1050,00 is added.

·  Processing time is a minimum of five working days.

·  If the application is sent via courier or travel agent: An additional fee of DKK 140,00 will be charged. Note that this fee does not cover the posting of documents. For returning by mail, a recommended, self-addressed pre-paid envelope must be enclosed.

Important:

·  Applicants must have lived Denmark for at least one year prior to the visa application.

·  First entry into Brazil must be made within 90 days from the date the visa is issued (stated on the visa itself). It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure the application is lodged accordingly.

·  Registration with the Federal Police (DPMAF) within 30 days of arrival in Brazil. For this purpose, make sure to take the second copy of the application form which will be returned to you duly stamped by the Consular Section.

In addition to the above required documents, special requirements are needed in the following cases:

·  Specific requirements for student visa to Brazil-exchange student at medium level study (high school)

·  Specific requirements for voluntary work visa to Brazil

·  Specific requirements for scientific expeditions to Brazil

Specificrequirements for student visa to Brazil-exchange student at medium level study (high school)

Additional documentation required:

From the exchange student’s organization:

·  Copy of the act of incorporation of the exchange student institution (ata da constituição);

·  Copy of certificate of registration of the exchange student’s institution at the Brazilian National Tax Payer Registry (CNPJ).

From the exchange student:

·  Letter from the Brazilian exchange student’s organization confirming enrollment or acceptance of the student in the program;

·  Letter from school in Brazil confirming enrollment of the student and stating the duration of the stay (this letter must contain a certified signature by a Notary Public in Brazil);

·  Proof of means of support during the stay in Brazil compatible with the length and purpose of the trip;

·  Letter of consent signed by father and mother or guardian (Fødsels-og Dåbsattest or proof of guardianship is required), for applicants younger than 18. A Danish authority, such as the Notary Public, must also confirm the validity of these signatures;

·  Complete name, address and qualifications of persons hosting the student in Brazil (“host family”);

·  Passport, valid for at least 18 months;

United Arab Emirates citizens are subject to an additional fee of DKK 525,00 on a reciprocity basis.

Franch citizens are subject to an additional fee of DKK 700,00 on a reciprocity basis.

Nationals from certain countries require consultation with the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations, prior to the issuing of their visas. In these cases an extra fee of DKK 210,00will apply and processing time is a minimum of 15 days.

Specific requirements for voluntary work visa to Brazil

Foreigners traveling to Brazil to do voluntary work require this type of visa. This category only covers activities undertaken on behalf of charitable organizations and these activities must not constitute employment of any form, paid or unpaid, with or without contract.

Additional documentation required:

·  Letter of invitation from the Brazilian institution, certified by a Public Notary in Brazil (Cartório in Portuguese);

·  Document giving details of work place and type of activities to be carried out by the applicant, certified by a Public Notary in Brazil;

·  A letter from the Brazilian institution assuming full responsibility for the maintenance of the applicant while in Brazil and for his/her return to the country of origin;

·  Health insurance valid throughout Brazil;

·  Verified/Certified photocopies of the documents: Constitution of the Brazilian institution, i.e. social statutes, articles of association, appointment act or nomination of the current board of directors and proof of registration with the respective National, State, Federal District of Municipal Social Welfare Council;

·  Original document or verified/certified photocopies proof that the institution in Brazil is fully functional;

·  Curriculum Vitae (CV)that demonstrates previous work experience or matching degree for the fields in which you are requiring the visa.

Specific requirements for scientific expeditions in Brazil

This type of visa is required for foreigners traveling to Brazil who intend to perform scientific expeditions and/or to operate at indigenous areas.

Additional documentation required:

·  Authorization (original or verified/certified copy) from the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico – CNPq (Nacional Council of Scientific and Technologic Development); See the Normative Resolution 82/2008

·  Authorization (original or verified/certified copy) from the Fundação Nacional do Índio – FUNAI (National Indigenous Foundation), if intended to operate at indigenous areas.For US citizens the processing fee applicable for tourist visa is based on reciprocity.
