Director of Next Gen Ministries
Mineral Springs United Methodist Church is seeking a full-time Director of Next Gen Ministries. This position will provide leadership and direction for effective MSUMC middle school,high school, and young adult ministries – including program development and leadership as well as recruiting, training, and oversight of volunteer leaders to enable effective ministries; youth community outreach and missions; and management of the Next Gen ministry budget.
Essential Functions of the Position
- Design, implement, and continue to build upon an existing student and young adult programs that integrate relationship building, worship, spiritual formation, and missional opportunities
- Collaborate with volunteers to develop opportunities for Next Gen ministries
- Recruit, develop and train students and adult leaders who wish to participate in the planning and execution of Next Gen and church-wide ministries
- Collaborate with church staff and key lay leaders to integrate the Next Gen ministry into the overall life of the church
- Provide oversight and support for weekend and midweek programs to include Christian education and social time
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of the Next Gen ministry budget
- Maintain adequate and appropriate communication with students, parents, and the church regarding Next Gen ministries. Communicate with the congregation and community via church media (i.e. bulletin, website, The Pipeline, etc.) and other avenues. Use social media and technology effectively and appropriately

Performance Responsibilities
- Serves on Mineral Springs United Methodist Churchstaff with responsibility for Next Gen ministries
- Assist with setting goals, developing and maintaining budgets, recruiting and maintaining well-trained volunteers in Next Gen ministries to ensure successful and effective ministry for middle school students, high school students, and young adults
- Manages the Mineral Springs United Methodist ChurchSafe Sanctuary programs for Next Gen ministries. Ensures compliance with all Safe Sanctuary policies
- Fulfills requirements for youth as outlined in Book of Discipline paragraph 256.3
Expectations
Members of the MSUMC staff, whether part-time or full-time, attend their spiritual growth through participation in a small group or regular devotional time and through the discovery and use of their spiritual gifts; give regularly in support of MSUMC; pray for the ministry and mission of MSUMC; participate in continuing education activities related to the appropriate areas of responsibility; provide clear leadership for their assigned area in support of MSUMC mission.
A successful candidate will have:
- Passion for walking alongside young persons in their faith journeys
- Vision for the growth of students’ faith, and for the growth of the Next Gen ministries
- Bachelor's degree required; Religious studies or further theological education preferred
- Experience leading and/or working with student ministries
- Agree to a background check
Terms of Employment
- At-Will
- 40 hours/week salary commensurate with experience
- $30-35 per year, plus travel
- Office space with computer provided
Supervision:
- Reports to the Senior Pastor
- Performance will be formally reviewed annually –including a review of this job description
