ICT worksheet 1.2
Sydney Children's Hospital
You have been asked by the committee to design a prototype for the raffle tickets and one for the certificates.
Raffle ticket specifications
The raffle tickets consist of two halves with a perforation between the two of them. The ticket and stub (left hand side of the ticket) are to be 15 centimetres long and 7 centimetres wide. The perforation will be 5 centimetres from the left edge of the ticket.
The left hand side of the ticket needs to contain lines for the name, address and telephone number of the buyer. The books will be stapled 0.5 centimetres from the left-hand edge of the ticket, so nothing should be printed further left than 1 centimetre from that edge.
The right hand side of the ticket will contain the ticket number, the name of your school, the school badge, the date of drawing, the prizes being offered (1st prize is a DVD recorder and 2nd prize is a personal CD player), the number of the ticket and the cost of each ticket.
Design a prototype ticket using a drawing program or using the drawing tools in your word processor.
Certificate specifications
The certificate is to be given to those people who have contributed to the organisation of the raffle such as those businesses that donated the prizes, the students who sold the most tickets, the school principal and members of the organising committee.
The certificate is to be printed on a single sheet of fancy A4 paper.
The certificate will have the school badge, the school name, the name of the recipient, the reason for the certificate (such as ‘best ticket seller’), the name of the raffle. The certificate will also need places for the date the certificate is awarded and the signature of the chairperson of the committee.
Design the prototype certificate as a word processing document. This document can then be mail merged with a list later. (You don't have to worry about this for the exercise.)
Evaluation
Once you have completed your designs, survey a number of people you know to find their opinion of your prototypes. Write a report that includes their comments and suggestions. Finish the report by saying how do you think you can improve each of the prototypes you have developed.
