GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING APPLICATION PACKET

This is a competitive need-based and merit-based scholarship sponsored by theNational Science Foundation, and is open to current SFSU and committed transferred students.

Please note that meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee a scholarship as there are only 30 scholarships at $4,000 each.

  1. Application Form (Page 2) – Completed, signed and dated.
  2. College Transcripts –Current SFSU students need to include copies of ALL college coursework at SFSU and any other colleges they have attended. Unofficial transcripts accepted.
  3. Copy of 2009-2010 FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) – showing Expected Family Contribution (EFC). Please include SFSU’s school code (001154) on your FAFSA application. For more information on FAFSA, please visit the SFSU Financial Aid office website
  4. Student Educational Plan (SEP) – showing all completed, in-progress, and future college courses needed to complete a degree in one of the four engineering majors.
  5. Personal Statement – Must be typed, double-spaced, and a maximum of 2 pages in length. Please include information about yourself and family, your academic and career goals and academic plans.
  6. Commitment Statement: – A statement of commitment about how this scholarship would specifically help you to complete your BS degree in a timely manner.
  7. Letter of Recommendation – One letter of recommendation from a math or science or engineering professor. Please use the Recommendation Form provided on page 3 of the application packet. The letter must be signed and sealed by the recommender.
