MARKET RASEN JUNIOR TABLE TENNIS CLUB DEVELOPMENT PLAN for season commencing September 2007 AT WOLDS LEISURE – De ASTON

Currently we finish our first full season September 2006-July 2007 on Wednesday 18th July 2007. We will begin next year’s coaching sessions soon after the commencement of the Autumn term.

In Autumn 2006 we started our coaching session for Market Rasen Jun.TTC. Every Wednesday between 5.00pm and 6.15pm for the primary age group. We have steadily increased in numbers over 3 school terms until July 2007, including getting a group of young girls together (sisters and friends of existing young members) and have on our books 18 members. The age group ranges from 6yrs to 10yrs.

Achievements Some of the students have already played in 2 open school tournaments, U’11s and U’12’s and admirably acquitted themselves.

We have put in place a ladder system – individual tournament competition.

Dunlop “Rookie Awards” have been achieved.

Run a 2-a-side fun night for parents and students.

Had a full-page spread in the local Rasen Mail.

All members wear a regular uniform(shirt) displaying Market Rasen TTC every week.

The club started the season with ETTA “Premier Club Participation Level” status and the club has now attained at this level “Clubmark” status in April 2007.

We have successfully attained an Award for All Grant, a Local Network Grant, Lincolnshire County donated a small amount towards Coaches education and a local firm kindly gave us a donation to welcome a healthy new sport into the local area.

All our coaches have ETTA qualification, are personally insured and have attended courses in Child Protection, A Club for All, Equity in Sport etc. One of our coaches is appointed as our Child Protection Officer. We have taken out an annual Public Liability Insurance to safeguard our interests.

We now have a contract with Butterfly Sports/TeeSports and display their logo on our newly printed headed paper. Also displayed is the Council logo, Award for All logo and the ETTA logo.

Through our contact with Butterfly we have purchased with our grant money enough equipment – tables, nets, umpires tables, balls, bats, multi ball equipment etc. to enable us to expand even further.

We have a “notice board” in the reception area at Wolds Leisure – De Aston.

2 of our members have passed their Junior Umpires Award.

Some of our pupils will be invited to a Coaching Course to be held at the end of August over the bank holiday.

Easter 2007 – Following the Easter holidays we put in place an earlier session for De Aston School. 3.30pm- 5.00pm for senior school pupils at De Aston. This is proving popular and we are slowly increasing in numbers. We have also welcomed pupils from Caister Grammar travelling to play in this session at the school.

Some of our senior boys have participated in the North East Lincs. Schools Championships and have acquitted themselves admirably in such a short time.

OUR AIM was to get a team in the Lincolnshire Youth Games 2007 which takes place on Sunday 1st July in Grantham for table tennis from West Lindsey – this I am sure we will achieve. A coach will be laid on for transportation of the West Lindsey teams for all sports to Grantham.

SENIORS -

BRITISH LEAGUE

We have entered a Senior Men’s Team in the British League for the season 2007/8 in Division 2 North. This team will practice at Wolds – DeAston. The kit for this team will be sponsored by the Market Rasen Club and the team will be called Market Rasen.

As I said earlier we hope for a successful last two sessions of this school year to play a 2-a-side fun tournament for parents and students.

ALSO – for the future

Practice sessions will continue through the month of August on a Wednesday according to demand. We hope to run An Invitation Tournament “Top 12 Lincolnshire players 2-a-side” in September 2007 (before the season of main competition starts) for Seniors – Thursday 13th and Thursday 20th September. 8.00pm – 10.pm are the proposed dates.

It is hoped we will be able to book Thursday evenings between 8.00pm – 10.00pm. for a regular “Practice Evening” for adults and juniors – all welcome – Over 50’s/seniors/juniors/mums dads - all ages. This will be financed by the Market Rasen Club, therefore participants will pay a small sum for the session and an annual subscription and become members, full members, of the Market Rasen Club. This will run every Thursday starting in the Autumn of 2007.

We are also hoping to arrange friendly matches both for the senior school students and the primary age group during next season. Contact has already been made with at least 3 other school groups.
