Chaplaincy Chaplaincy ministries strives to engage people in ministry to persons in crisis. The leadership provides training for police, fire, and EMS chaplains at anannual training. Training is offered for volunteer hospital or hospice chaplains. An additional focus is to train Disaster Relief chaplains. As these men and women put their skills into practice, they are encouraged to find a place to serve in their church and community when not serving in disaster. The goal is to take the church – the ministry of hope and help in Jesus’ name – to people where they are. Chaplains serve with a ministry of presence and the Good News of Jesus.

This year chaplains have served in disasters in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Connections were made with military chaplains to assist in connecting chaplain ministry with local churches. Chaplains have assisted local agencies when major events have necessitated pastoral care interventions. A large number of men and women stand ready to respond to crisis and serve regularly in local facilities such as nursing homes, hospitals, jails, prisons, corporate facilities, ministry centers.
