BAXTER MARION RURAL WATER ASSOCIATION
APRIL 5TH,2018 BOARD OF DIRECTOR’S MEETING
I. President Mike Scrima called the meeting to order at 6PM onApril 5th, 2018 at the Oakland Community Center Oakland Arkansas followed by the pledge of allegiance.
II. Tim Carrey from ARWALeaks were discussed. Tim Carrey taught our operator in training how to listen for leaks. Rates were discussed. The minimum should take care of our overhead and the Gal. rate should be our bankable amount. He will help us as much as possible.
III. Roll Call: Mike Scrima,Rod Bracket, Russ Ericksen, Roger Haesele, Dave Pearson, and Marilyn Strawhun secretary were present. Paul Otten was absent
IV. Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer’s report for Marchwas read by the Treasurer Steve Caroselli. Motion made by Roger Haeseleto accept the treasurer's report subject to audit, 2nd by Rod Bracket. Motion passed.
V. Minutes:Motion was made by Rod Bracket to approve the March 7th meeting minutes as presented 2nd by Roger Haesele. Motion passed.
Board member replacement:Motion was made by Roger Haesele to have Marilyn Strawhun finish out the term of Steve Caroselli 2nd by Rod Bracket. Motion passed.
VI. Customer Concerns:None
VII. Monthly Report:
A. Water quality status. (health dept. testing)All tests were good. The mixer is doing great.
C. Water usage. Tim Carrey went around with our operator in training (Rick Sandvos) checking for leaks. The hydrant on 105 has no leak.
D. Past due customersTwo customers will get shut off notices.
VIII. Old business:
A. John Caroselli meter easement Still working on this.
C. Fire Department using flush hydrantsTraining coming up
D. Back up operatorWe are a small system our operator will need to be a class I and eventually a class II.
E. Water Rates and FeesRates were discussed. Roger Haesele made a motion to increase the residential base rate to $42.00 and anything after the first 1000 gal. to be increased to $8.00 per 1000 gals or part thereof, and delete the tiers, 2nd by Russ Ericksen. Motion Passed.
Rod Bracket made a motion to raise the commercial rates to $12.00 X number of units and $8.20 per 1000 gals or part thereof and delete the rest of the tiers, 2nd by Roger Haesele. Motion passed.
F. Ballard Auditon going
IX. New Business
A. Dabney Dabney’s grandson is requesting water service. We are studying the law suit paper work to see what we can charge him. Mike will check with Ted Sanders. Tabled until next month.
B. Annual Clean Water ReportIt will be mailed to us. It needs to be kept for 10 years. Need to put it on the web site.
C. Locks Russ Ericksen made a motion to get heavy duty locks for the flush hydrants 2nd by Rod Bracket. Motion Passed.
IX.Adjournment: Motion made by Russ Ericksen to adjourn the meeting 2nd by Roger Haesele. Motion passed
