Mission Statement
St. John’s Episcopal Church is a community of faith that exists to:
make Christ known and grow more fully into his life through
Worship, Formation, Fellowship, and Outreach Ministries.
Everyone is welcome into this family of love, friendship and service!
In our prayers this week, let us lift up…
-Our Clergy, especially Rowen, Archbishop of Canterbury; Katharine, our Presiding Bishop and Primate; Don, our Bishop; Rayford and Dena, our Bishop Suffragans; and Robert, our Rector..
-For the Religious, especially the Anglican Order of Dominicans that they may preach the Gospel and win lost souls to Christ.
-The leaders of our nation, especially George, our President; The Congress of the United States; The Supreme Court and all those in authority; Rick our Governor; and Russell, our Mayor – that, by their leadership, we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in the service of God and to His honor and glory.
-This Church family of St. John’s: for those in leadership and for every member of this Church, both present and absent.
--Those who are sick, especially Rob Robertson.
-Those celebrating birthdays this week, especially Sandy Scarborough and Ann Brown.

A FRANCISCAN FAREWELL
Departing Priest: Let us pray.
God of our beginnings and endings,
I celebrate all we have shared as a parish family this past six years
And ask your blessing as we now depart from each other and continue
on our journey.
May the love that is in our hearts
Be a bond that unites us forever,
Wherever we may be.
May the power of your presence
Bless this moment of our leave-taking;
For the sake of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer. Amen.
From Psalms 121 & 139
1. You, O God, will guard us from all evil:
You will protect our lives.
2. You will protect our going out and our coming in:
Both now and for ever.
3. Where can I flee from your Spirit:
Or where can I flee from your presence?
4. If I climb to heaven, you are there:
If I lie in the grave, you are there also.
5. If I take the wings of the morning
And dwell in the depths of the sea,
6. Even there, your hand shall lead me;
Your hand shall hold me fast.
Departing Priest: Let us pray.
Departing Priest and Congregation:
Come to our help, comfort us and give us life,
In yourr merciful goodness, O God,
For we are yours;
Keep our feet from the evil path
And save us through Jesus Christ,
Your Word and Wisdom. Amen.
Departing Priest:
As I leave, I ask forgiveness where I have failed you;
I give thanks for all that you have given to me;
I assure you of my love and prayers.
Congregation:
As you experience the pain of change,
And the insecurity of moving on,
We pray that you may also experience
The blessing of inner growth
Departing Priest:
I know that God goes with me.
Congregation:
As you meet the poor, the pained,
And the stranger on the Way,
We pray that you may see in each one
The face of Christ.
Departing Priest:
I know that God goes with me.
Congregation:
As you walk through the good times and the bad,
We pray that you may never lose sight
Of the shelter of God’s loving arms.
Departing Priest:
I know that God goes with me.
Congregation:
As you ponder your decisions
And wonder over the fruits of your choice,
We pary that the peace of Christ
May reign in your heart.
Departing Priest:
I know that God goes with me.
Departing Priest:
We praise and thank you, God of the journey,
For this congregation of St. John’s Church .
I entrust them into your loving care,
Knowing that you are always faith.
Shelter and protect them from all harm and anxiety.
Grant them the courage to meet the future,
And grace to let go into new life;
Through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
