Course Description: Foundations/Common Core Math 1 is designed to draw upon the student’s knowledge and application of the real number system and quantities to analyze and solve multi-step problems. Topics include writing equations and interpreting the results, linear models, polynomial models, exponential models, and select topics from geometry and statistics.

Tutoring: Students that do not maintain a 60 average in this class will be assigned to tutoring during Power Hour. Students may request to attend tutoring and will be assigned at the first available date.

Supplies: 3-ring binder, notebook paper, and pencils. A graphing calculator will be available during class time and can be downloaded onto a Chrome Book.

Grading Weights:

Tests/Projects: 50%

Quizzes: 30%

Classwork: 10%

Homework: 10%

Grading Scale:

A: 90-100 = 4.0

B: 80-89 = 3.0

C: 70-79 = 2.0

D: 60-69 = 1.0

F: < 59 = 0.0

Homework: You will have homework on a nightly basis. Homework is an essential component to success in this class. You must show all work and be ready to show the assignment upon daily homework check.

Latework: The policy stated is from the student handbook. Students who fail to complete an assignment by the due date will still be allowed to complete the work up to 3 days after the assignment is due. Anything turned in after the 3rd day will not be accepted.

Tests: Tests will be administered at the end of each unit.

Final Exam: The final exam for this class is a state End of Course Exam. You are required to take this exam and it counts as 20% of your final grade.

  • To be successful in this class, it is imperative that students are in class and are on time.
  • Students who miss a quiz or a test will be required to complete it the next day that tutoring is available.

Notes: Students are expected to take notes in class on a daily basis. Daily notes and worksheets will be posted on my CCHS website for those students that are absent. They will be in PDF format.
