Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How can I get to the school from the airport?
You can take an airport bus 6702 to the Grand Ambassador Hotel which is located right next to the campus. After getting off the bus, you can either walk to the residence hall or take a cab to get inside the campus. Since our campus has hills which make it difficult for you to walk all the way carrying your luggage, we suggest you to take a cab to the residence hall. Once you take a cab, tell the driver that you are going to ‘Dongguk Dae-Hak-Gyo, NamSan Residence Hall’ (동국대학교, 남산학사/南山宿舍). Then you may get to the entrance of the residence hall.

If you are suffering from more intense pain or suspected disease, we recommend you visit Seoul Inje University Paik Hospital’s 24-hour emergency clinic. All of their emergency clinic staff are fluent in English.

Q. How can I obtaining a Bank Account?
Most banks require an ARC card to open your own bank account. Since it can take a few weeks to receive your ARC card, the on-campus Shinhan bank has specially arranged to open bank accounts for international students just using your passport. Bank account application forms and instructions will be available at your student orientation during the first week at Dongguk. It can take up to one week to activate a bank account, but we will do our best to open your accounts immediately.
After your ARC card is issued, you can take it to the on-campus Shinhan branch, and they will activate your student ID card as a debit card. Your student ID card will then be connected to your Shinhan bank account so that you can use your student ID card for banking activity. Until that time, you must use your banking booklet for banking services.
Q. How can I register a mobile?
All visitors to Korea should understand the costs of roaming charges and overseas use if you use your own mobile phone abroad (unlocked phones only). Most international phones will not work in Korea unless unlocked because of a different mobile standard. And Korea does not operate a SIM card system where you can just buy a SIM card for use.
If you choose to get a mobile phone in Korea, you can obtain one in any electronics shop or phone.
