Malvern Fundraising Initiatives for Haïti

Dear Malvern Parents,

I know you have recently received an e-mail from our director Chris Spence regarding the call to Action for the Disaster relief in Haïti.I would also like to bring you up to date on Malvern’s response to this terrible catastrophe.

I have the privilege in assisting Ms Lesley Gage with Malvern’s various student leadership councils and today we met to discuss the various student initiatives that will be put in place to raise funds for Haïti in the coming months.

  1. Cash donation Jar: This jar will be available in a daily basis in the main office for anyone wishing to make a cash donation. Even loose change is gladly accepted.
  2. Student Bake Sale: Students will host a bake sale this Friday January 22nd in the Cafeteria.
  3. Malvern Idol: This event organized by our Music Council will take place Friday January 25that 7 p.m. in the Auditorium and a portion of the proceeds from this event as well as a bake sale will go to Haïti relief. Tickets are $5.00
  4. World Food Day: This event will be hosted by le Conseil Français, Brick By Brick and the Equity Council. It will take place during an extended lunch period in the Cafeteria on Friday January 29th. Staff and Students will be able to purchase foods from around the world including Haïti.
  5. Candy Grams: Our Student Council and Equity Council will be selling Candy Grams from February 8th to February 11th. They will be delivered February 11th.
  6. Organic Chocolate Sales: Our Eco Schools Council will be selling organic chocolate on the Cafeteria Thursday February 11th.
  7. Silent Auction: Our Peer Leaders are organizing a silent auction to be held during one of the parent teacher interview sessions on February 25th. Please contact the school if you have items to donate.
  8. Sport-A-Thon: Our Malvern Student Athletic Association is organizing this event which will take place March 4th (overnight) and March 5th and a portion of the proceeds will go to Haïti.
  9. Fashion Show. Our Fashion show will take place May 6th and 7th at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium and a portion of the proceeds will go to Haïti.
  10. Additional fundraising plans include a clothing drive and an after school concert at Malvern. We will keep you posted on the details when they are finalized.
