Anthropology Undergraduate Research Info Panel and Speed Interview event
The first part of the event will feature a panel of current Anthropology undergraduate Research Assistants (RAs) who will speak about their experiences and take Q&A from the audience. The second part of the event will be a chance for ANT faculty and graduate students who are looking for spring or summer undergraduate RAs to showcase their research, sit down and talk with interested students/prospective applicants, and hopefully do on-the-spot mini-interviews. Undergraduate students may be looking for research related positions for themselves during the summer and will be able to gain skills and knowledge by helping faculty and graduate students with background research, lab work/analysis, data entry, transcription, etc.

1:10 pm McNair and UC –LEADS programs:
The UC Davis McNair Scholars Program is a two-year program funded by TRIO and the U.S. Department of Education. It is designed to encourage students from groups often underrepresented in graduate programs to pursue doctoral degrees. About 20 UC Davis undergraduates and incoming transfer students are selected each year to participate in academic year and summer activities. Contacts: ,
1:35pm Vertically Integrated Projects Program The Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) program integrates undergraduate education and faculty research in a team-based environment. It provides an immersive, collaborative, and flexible learning environment in which undergraduate students earn academic credits by participating in a research project for up to three years. The students have the opportunity to learn and practice professional skills, experience different roles, and make substantial contributions to research projects. contact:
2:10pm Humanities/SS Program: This program is for second-year students interested in learning more about research in the humanities and social sciences. Undergraduate mentees are paired with graduate student mentors, with whom they regularly meet. Mentees may help mentors with ongoing research projects or may develop their own research interests in preparation for work on an honors thesis with a professor. Mentees also participate in monthly workshops discussing topics ranging from graduate school and grant applications to research proposal development. This event will be an informal Q&A session featuring one of last year's undergraduate participants. contact:
