TELE-DERMATOLOGY GP USER GUIDE
To Refer a Patient
Select referring GP as normal and select “Dermatology” speciality and any of the standard clinic types.
The service is “based” at the RoyalBerkshireHospital so set your search distance as required.
Select the Tele-Dermatology service (the live service name will be “RBFT – Tele-Dermatology – RoyalBerkshireHospital – RHW”
Once you have selected the service, click “Appointment Search” not “Request”. The appointment must be booked by the GP Practice at point of referral.
This is not an appointment for the patient to attend, please do not give them any paperwork. The date of the appointment is the date by which you will have feedback from the Tele-Dermatology triage (This feedback can be found under your “Referrer Action Required” worklist within e-Referral Service).
Select the first free appointment slot and then “Book Appointment”
Screen will confirm the UBRN, appointment date/time and the service you have selected. (Please not, screenshot shows a test service)
Click “Submit” to confirm the booking and wait for it to process. You will then see the “Appointment Details” screen, to confirm the triage appointment that you have booked.
Adding a Referral Letter and Photograph
From the above screen shot, click “Add Referral Letter” (this can also be done via your GP in-house system. Please use your standard process for adding referral letters).
When adding referrals via e-Referral Service, you will be presented with the Referral Letter screen and the “Add Attachment” button, which will allow you to browse files on your PC and select them to upload. Please continue to use the tele-dermatology referral form
PLEASE NOTE
You can upload a maximum of 5 megabytes in total to a single e-Referral Service referral. Each file can be up to 1 megabyte in size.
A colour JPEG at 1024x786 resolution and 300 dpi should be less than 1 megabyte.
Please check the settings on your smartcard/digital camera/image device before taking a picture. If the file is too large, it will fail to upload.
Once you have uploaded all files, press “Confirm” and you will see the “Clinical Information” screen, with details of the patient you have referred and the referrals you have attached to the UBRN.
To Review Consultant Management Plan
When checking the “Referrer Action Required” worklist, click on the UBRN for a patient referred to the Tele-Dermatology service and you will see the “Clinical Assessment Comments” box, which will contain the outcome of the assessment.
(This box can be copy and pasted to easily see the full comment, or by clinic “Actions” – “View History” and then clicking on the “Record Assessment” comment to see the fully details).
