SHADOW PROGRAM
The Pre-Vet Society was founded in 1980 to enable students to broaden their perspective of the veterinary medical profession. With the assistance of professionals in the field, the Pre-Vet Society brings speakers to the campus twice monthly, offers field trips to explore different veterinary environments, and strives to help its members attain their goal of admission into veterinary school.
As another means of exposing students to the profession and encouraging participation in the field the Pre-Vet Society has a Shadow Program. The purpose of our program is to offer pre-veterinary students a chance to observe the daily routine of professionals in a specific track of veterinary medicine. Since its implementation in the summer of 2007 the Shadow Program has grown immensely.
We would like to invite you to participate in the Shadow Program for the year of 2010-2011. If you choose to participate in our program, a student would shadow you at your convenience and under your terms. You would be paired up with a new student during the winter and summer semester breaks. Although we believe this program offers participants a new perspective on the field of veterinary medicine, we would be unable to implement it without the cooperation and generosity of local and statewide veterinarians. We have attached a document to be returned to the Pre-Vet Society; at the top please indicate your interest in participating in this program. If you are willing to participate in this program, please fill out the rest of the attached application.
Upon receipt of your information, you will be entered into our database and matched with student applicant(s). We will be taking applications from students during the fall and spring semesters and reviewing them before the winter and summer holidays commence. Once you have been paired with an interested student in your area the Pre-Vet Society will provide you with the student’s information. It is the responsibility of the student to contact you to coordinate a suitable schedule for shadowing and uphold their commitment to participate.
If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please contact Beverly Crocker at (972) 877-4771 (). Thank you for your time and help in establishing and continuing our program!
Sincerely,
Beverly Crocker
