Dear Friends,
The dates for Lone Parent Family Camp are 14-21 August 2016
Lone Parent Family camp gives an opportunity for single parents to have a great holiday with their children. We have a strong emphasis on building people and relationships. Spiritual activities are enjoyed by all ages. Cycling, trips, beach outings and other outdoor activities are also on the programme. This camp has been so successful that many of our campers come back year after year!
The camp will have a Sunday start (arrivals from 3.30pm onwards on 14 August) and will finish after breakfast on the following Sunday.
This camp tends to fill quickly, so we recommend booking early!
Please take some time to read this letter carefully as the information isimportant for the happiness and smooth-running of the camps.
Some of these details may sound trivial or unusual, even strict, but we have learned from past experience that even the little things are important!
You must have read and agreed to all the conditions stated in this letter before applying to come to Lone Parent Family Camp.
The Camp-Site is at Chapel Porth in North Cornwall, close to St Agnes, and a short bus ride from Truro. The site overlooks the coastline and is a short walk down a hill to Chapel Porth beach.
Accommodation is in large, two- and three-bedroom static caravans with their own bathroom facilities, fridge, cooker, sink and electricity. There are only 16 caravans, and some are needed for staff, so please book your holiday as soon as possible to ensure you get a place.
Pets- No pets are allowed on site for this camp (except for guide dogs), because of the cost of cleaning the caravans once they have left, and for the comfort of campers with allergies and phobias.
Transport – If you do have your own transport, this would be a great asset to you at the camp. However, we will have minibuses onsite to help transport families without their own vehicle on the various excursions during the week.
You will need to arrange your own transport down to Truro rail or coach station, and we will pick you up from there. The best options are:
- National Express coach service from London Victoria coach station. Book online at or phone 03717 818181.
- Intercity Rail service from London Paddington to Trurorail station. Call National Rail Enquiries on 020 7068 0500 or visit
Remember to book well in advance for the cheapest tickets, and check whether a discount rail card or other offers could help reduce your travel costs further.
Meals – All meals will be provided. Most days you will need to make up packed lunches from the food provided.
Please let us know in advance if you have special dietary needs. All food is vegetarian and soya milk is provided.
Responsibility - Parents are to be responsible for their children’s behaviour at all times. Any damages incurred by children at the camp are the financial responsibility of the parents or guardians.
Volunteers – To enable as many people as possible to attend the camp, we have to keep staffing down to a minimum. To avoid putting undue pressure on the few staff that will be there, you will be put on rotas to help with a variety of jobs that need to be done around the camp site, such as washing up, etc. This shouldn’t be too burdensome, but we do need your help to make the camp run smoothly!
Banquet & Concert – Each year we have a themed banquet and concert. Please bring an item with you, such as a musical item, mime, drama, inspiring story, etc.
Involvement – By booking a place at this camp it is understood that you wish to join in the general activities of a Christian Camp, including worships. Families who don’t join in, miss out on a great experience, and can frustrate the building of the Lone Parent Family Campspirit.
Unregistered Guests – Please ensure that all guests onsite are booked in on your application form.We plan the camp with children/teenagers and their parents/guardians in mind. Space on site is limited, so please check with Leslie Ackie before inviting other people outside of this target group to stay in your caravan.
At no time can unregistered individuals be invited onto the site without first checking with Pastor Leslie Ackie, for security reasons.
Standards - We ask you to help us maintain high standards of respect while at the camp. Unrelated adults of different genders may not occupy the same caravan. Swearing, tobacco, alcohol and violence are not permitted on site. Compassion, support, fairness and care build the spirit we have come to love at Lone Parent Family Camp.
Application Forms– Please fill in the details of everyone who will be staying with you in your caravan (don’t forget mobile phone numbers!).Please inform us of any changes to these details at least one month before the camp. If you are bringing any children for whom you are not the legal guardian, then we require a special medical consent form for each child.
Payment– Demand for places at Lone Parent Family Camp is high, so infairness to all applicants, we will take bookings in the order applications are received with a deposit. Your balancepayment is due by Thursday 14th July 2016.
We do hope that you can come along and receive a real blessing, as a family, with plenty of fun, refreshment, spiritual revival, friendship and relaxation!
Yours in Christ,
Leslie Ackie
