Open Meeting Minutes

May 10, 2011

  1. Call to Order

MTPC open meeting was called to order at 8:04a.m. on May 10, 2011, in the Eagle Room. Connie Chute led the salute. Becky Libonatimotioned to open the meeting and Jamie Shire seconded the motion.

Treasurers Report

Michele Crawford presented the treasurer’s report dated 4/30/11. Becky Libonatimotioned to approve the treasurer’s report and Michelle Ambrosiseconded the motion.

  1. Items Discussed
  1. Connie Chute announced we made approx $870.00 during the Avon Fundraiser.
  2. Connie Chute mentioned Teacher Appreciation was a big success. She passed around teacher thank you cards given to the MTPC for members to read.
  3. The Family Appreciation BBQ/Talent Show is May 19th from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Hot dogs, drinks, chips and cookies will be served. Kathy Seagondollar will sell Mesquite Trails t-shirts for $5.00. We will give out Heritage Milk samples and coupons. We will also be selling raffles tickets for $1.00 each. The winner will receive 2 Angel Baseball tickets.
  4. Connie Chute announced there are still a few MTPC coordinator positions available for next year’s school year. Becky Libonati agreed to do the P.E. Shed and Family Nights out. Debbie Keegan agreed to do Crafters/ Vendors and Community Service for Fall Roundup. Lori DeTinne decided to handle Food & Beverages for the Fall Roundup. We still need someone to volunteer for Fall Roundup Games. If anyone is interested please contact Connie Chute.
  5. Tina Wiggins gave the marquee update. She said our representative is hoping to have the marquee installed before the end of the school year. We have made the second payment of $4,500.00. EVA has received our marquee and is in the process of building the cabinet. The program is being delivered this week so Mr. Stewart can learn how to program the marquee.
  6. Connie Chute thanked all of the volunteers who helped make the year so special. The parent club really appreciates all the help and dedication it has received from its members.
  1. Principal’s Report
  1. Mr. Stewart mentioned that Spirit day is on Wednesdays. The student council chose the themes. This Wednesday, May 11th, is famous character day.
  2. Mr. Stewart reminded us the Maverick game is May 10th. Star students are recognized on the field at 6:00 p.m.
  3. The Family Appreciation BBQ/Talent Show is May 19th, from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. RSVP’s will be going out soon. The talent show will be in the cafeteria this year.
  4. School surveys will be attached to the Family Appreciation BBQ RSVP’s. Please take the time to fill the surveys out and you will receive a free Family Appreciation BBQ meal ticket.
  5. Mr. Stewart had originally reported that if students passed their week 29 benchmark with 80% or better they did not have to retake the test. After district, teacher and parent input, it has been decided that students who scored 80 – 90% must retake the benchmark in hopes of bettering their score. Students who scored above 90% will be given the choice of taking it again.
  6. Train with Bryan Clay day is scheduled for May 14th for those students who raised more than $200.00 during the Bryan Clay Walk-a-thon.
  7. Field Day is scheduled for May 25th. We need parent volunteers, Moms and Dads, to coach their child’s team.
  8. Trimester awards will be given out the last day of school, Thursday, May 26th.
  9. Mr. Stewart reminded us that we have 4 day weeks the last 2 weeks of school. There will be no school on Friday, May 20th. The last day of school is Thursday, May 26th.

The next MTPC open meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. in the Eagle Room.
