Position:Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program Coordinator

Term:Permanent (37.5 hours per week)

Wage:$21.50 per Hour to Start

Under the direct supervision of the Social Section Manager at the N'Amerind London site; the Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program Coordinator shall be responsible for the planning, designing, implementation and evaluation of an accessible holistic and culturally sensitive prenatal nutritional/educational program for at-risk Indigenous Women and their babies.

Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates the prenatal/postnatal program, classes, workshops, group sessions
  2. Provides monthly, quarterly and annual written reports as required
  3. Assists in the development of program work plan and program budget
  4. Manages resources and materials within program guidelines
  5. Responsible for the development and maintenance of program records and statistics
  6. Promotion of Indigenous Cultures within program delivery
  7. Participates in relevant activities at community level
  8. Actively seeks funding through proposals for new initiatives
  9. Develops and maintains effective partnerships
  10. Develops referral system, process client intake, maintains client files
  11. Develops schedule based on program description and work plan
  12. Recruits volunteers/student placements
  13. Energetically promotes the availability of the program
  14. Actively recruits program participants within the Aboriginal Community
  15. Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor

Qualifications:

  1. Diploma or degree in health/social or five years experience in a related field
  2. Possess a sound understanding and awareness of Indigenous culture
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of organizations in the London area
  4. Knowledgeable of health, social and economic determinates impacting Aboriginal people
  5. Demonstrated awareness of maternal and infant health
  6. Proven experience in a community health setting
  7. To undertake any other such reasonable duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Additional Requirements:

  1. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, coordination and facilitation skills
  2. Self directed and motivated
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  4. Own vehicle and possess valid driver's license
  5. Must provide vulnerable CPIC (at cost to applicant)
