The Trauma Symposiumis a nationally accredited continuing medical education conference. Conference speakers are specialists in the fields of pre-hospital care, trauma, and critical care andwill address management, technology and techniques for optimal care in diverse trauma and critical care related issues.

Over 250 physicians, nurses, pre-hospital personnel and other healthcare providers from 30 hospitals across the state

attended the conference last year. Typically, 80% are nurses and therapists, 15% physicians, and 5% EMTs.

Cottage Health is a not-for-profit network of hospitals serving the greater Santa Barbara region and Central Coast. It includes Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital (SBCH), an acute-care teaching hospital and trauma center, and its associated Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital and Cottage Children’s Medical Center; Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital; and Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital. Together the hospitals provide inpatient care for 24,000 people each year, treat 69,000 emergency department visitors, and are renowned and nationally recognized for stroke, heart, cancer, trauma care, orthopedic surgery, and wound management. Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital is renowned for its comprehensive trauma, pediatric, cardiac, neuroscience, and oncology programs and is an ACS verified Level II Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, treating more than 1,700 trauma patients annually. Responding to trauma emergencies from Monterey to Ventura counties, our regional Trauma Center is the most comprehensive of its kind on the California coast between LA and San Jose.

When shipping parcelsTO the Resort be sure to:

–Address all packages to yourself.

–Place the appropriate Event Service manager’s name on all packages as the “in care of”.

–Place the conference name and the number of the parcel and the total number shipped on each item.

(See below for an example)

–Tell us how many boxes to expect, the method of shipment and the expected day of arrival. Also, please indicate where and when you would like the parcels delivered.

–Please do not ship anything to the resort more than three days prior to the start of your conference due to limited storage at the resort

When shipping parcels FROM the Resort:

–Be sure to indicate to us how many parcels you have to ship out.

–For your own convenience, please provide an account number for your shipping company of choice so freight charges can be billed directly to you.

Shipping and Receiving Charges and Requirements

Shipments must arrive at the Resort no sooner than three days prior to event start date. All shipments that arrive before this time will not be accepted.

Each box must have the following information clearly noted on it - conference/event name, name of the person to receive the shipment, the date of the event and the name of the Resort service manager. Number each box and list the number of items that are in the shipment (example - 1 of 5).

The cost for acceptance, storage and handling for the first box is $20.00.

The cost for acceptance, storage and handling for each additional box after the first box is $8.00

The Resort must be informed in advance if a pallet/crate/etc. will need to be shipped to the Resort. The Resort must be informed of the size and contents (perishables/non-perishables). The Resort has the right to refuse acceptance of such items if not informed in advance. Pricing starts at $250.00 per pallet/crate/etc. and will increase depending on size/needs of storage.

Contact your Resort contact to coordinate pick-up/delivery of your parcels once you arrive on property.

You will need to sign a receiving slip acknowledging delivery and authorizing payment in order to receive the shipment.

Upon conclusion of the event, outgoing shipment arrangements can be made with your Resort contact.

The cost for handling, storage and the outgoing shipment of the first box is $20.00 plus all carrier charges.

The cost for handling, storage and the outgoing shipment for each additional box after the first box is $8.00 plus all carrier charges.

The cost for handling, storage and the outgoing shipment of pallets/crates/etc. will be decided depending on needs for shipment/storage/etc.

You are responsible for packing your materials and filling out appropriate shipping forms for outgoing shipments. Your Resort contact will supply you with this form.

Any boxes/materials that are not properly labeled and/or are left behind will be discarded.

All outgoing shipments must be made no later than 3 days after the event or additional charges will apply.

In compliance with the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support, arrangements for commercial exhibits or advertisements cannot influence planning or interfere with the presentation, nor can they be a condition of the provision of commercial support for CME activities.

  • Exhibit and other promotional fees shall be separate and distinct from educational grants/commercial support.
  • All exhibitors must be in a room or area separate from the education and the exhibits must not interfere or in any way compete with the learning experience prior to, during, or immediately after the activity.
  • Company representatives must refrain from holding any commercial discussions in the educational ballroom. All promotional activities including interviews, demonstrations, and the distribution of literature or samples must be made within the exhibitor’s space. Canvassing or distributing promotional materials outside the exhibitor’s rented exhibit space is not permitted.
  • Commercial interest representatives may attend CME activities at the discretion of Cottage for the direct purpose of the representatives’ own education. However they may not engage in sales or marketing activities while in the space or place of the educational activity.

Liability

Neither Cottage, nor the Facility, the employees thereof, nor their representatives, nor any member of the Conference Committee shall be responsible for any injury, loss, or damage that may occur to the Exhibitor or his property from any cause whatsoever, prior to, during, or subsequent to the period of the Exhibit except for any injury, loss, or damage to the extent arising from the negligence or willful misconduct of Cottage, the Facility, their employees, their representatives or any member of the Conference Committee. The Exhibitor agrees to indemnify Cottage, the Facility and their employees, volunteers, and committees from any and all claims for loss, damage, or injury except for any claims for loss, damage or injury to the extent arising from the negligence or willful misconduct of Cottage, the Facility, their employees, volunteers, and committees. Exhibitors are encouraged to insure themselves against property loss or damage, and against both general and personal liability. Exhibitor understands and agrees that, for the safety of conference attendees, Exhibitor shall not perform any procedures on or provide any services to conference attendees that are either invasive or are customarily performed in a practitioner's office.

Guests

Under no circumstances may children/spouses/guests of representatives be in the exhibit area or conference areas unless they are registered attendees.

Cottage Conference Modification or Cancellation

Cottage reserves the right to modify the course’s schedule or program as necessary. Cottage also reserves the right to cancel this conference, in which case a full refund of the registration/exhibit fees will be provided. We are unable to refund any travel costs (flight, hotel, etc.) in the case of Cottage cancellation.

Recording and Photography

Cottage reserves exclusive rights to record (audio and video) and/or photograph all conference proceedings for use in marketing materials, presentations and course content sales.
