  1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the general public and to all members of the CSU Channel Islands Student Government that:

A meeting of the Student Government Senatewill be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at California State University Channel Islands, Student Union Conference Room (room 1080), located at One University Drive, Camarillo, CA 93012, to consider and act upon the following matters:

Public Forum

Public forum is intended as a time for any member of the public to address the Senate on issues affecting any student(s) and/or organizations of California State University Channel Islands.

  1. Ray Perez spoke about him being back at work and is working to find solutions for parking issues on campus
  2. Sandy Gannon talked about her role in parking and transportation services

  5. Chief Burns talked about the proper set up for our senate meetings
  6. Senators, Vice President, Director of Operations and Chief Justice sit at the table
  7. All other executive members sit with the members of the public

  9. Food Pantry Names – Vice President Pelayo (10 minutes)
  10. Names that Student Government like:

  12. Ekholocation Pantry

  16. Tuition Proposaland Advocacy– President Noyes and Director Mena (30 minutes)
  17. Senator Ewing likes the idea that Vice President Pelayo came up with, for students to send postcards to Governor Brown
  18. It is very important for Student Government to educate students about this potential change
  19. RamonPorras likes this idea and finds it important for us to share our stories with legislatures
  20. Senator Sailor yields time to Samir Azizi, he recommends that we look into change.org to create a petition
  21. Director Mumford proposes that we should work with the CI View to get information out to students
  22. Student Government Website – President Noyes (30 minutes)
  23. Add a group photo of our current student government representatives
  24. Move group photo to the front of our page
  25. Update contact information
  26. Add the legislation that we have added
  27. Add “Student Government Accomplishments”
  28. Possible idea to live stream our senate meetings
  29. Maximus Questions –Director Mumford (45 minutes)
  30. Adding an alumni Maximus award
  31. Senator Sailor believes this would be a great idea
  32. Senator Heim likes the idea
  33. Chief Christopher likes the idea
  34. Director Mumford explains the Maximus award and that it is a Student Government award that is given at the Legacy awards at the end of the year (which student leadership puts on)
  35. There are four maximus awards that are given to one student, one faculty member, one administrator and one staff member; if alumni were added to these categories then there would be a total of five awards
  36. Trying to edit the criteria of this award in order to reach outside students (other than ASI people)
  37. Creating an ongoing form for ideas about the maximus award
  38. Possibly on the white board
  39. Possibly with post it notes
  40. Possibly in a google doc
  41. Possibly having a meeting about changes for this award and inviting Genesis Delong to this meeting, as she helped change the criteria two years ago and knows about the history of this award
  42. People who would interested in meeting outside the senate meeting
