ROLE TITLE: FINANCE ASSISTANT
REPORTING TO: FINANCE MANAGER
BASED: CENTRAL WOKING OFFICE
HOURS: 15 hours per week worked flexibly over 5 days
Overall purpose:
To provide general financial/administrative support in the Trust’s small busy office, working without direct supervision, including being the key point of contact for the outsourced finance service
Main Responsibilities:
1. Administrative support for outsourced accounting service
To liaise with the Woking based outsourced accountancy service on a day to day basis re transaction processing, ensuring paperwork is provided to agreed timetable and to be the initial point of contact for routine queries
2. Financial administration
To undertake a range of administrative duties including financial coding, checking expense claims, banking and listing income.
3. Credit control
To ensure all sales invoices paid promptly, chasing up debtors as necessary
4. General administration
To deal with telephone/postal enquiries on a day to day basis, referring on to other staff as
appropriate

Person Specification
ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLEEducation Training and Work Qualifications
Good standard of general education, particularly maths and English / Educated to A level standard or equivalent
Knowledge
Good working knowledge of Microsft packages
Understanding of basic accounting processes and procedures / Knowledge of Sage 50 Accounting System
Skills and Abilities
Confident in using the telephone and dealing with a wide range of enquiries
Able to work independently and cope with a varied and changing workload
Able to remain focussed in a busy office environment, while coping with regular interruptions
Able to respond effectively to changing priorities
Able to work effectively with minimal management guidance / supervision
Numerate and thorough, with an eye for detail
Good communication skills both written and spoken
Personal Qualities
Calm and professional approach
Self motivated and enthusiastic
A good sense of humour and common sense
Relevant Experience
Several years administrative experience, including some exposure to financial processes / Experience of a similar role
Other Requirements
Reliable and honest and able to work confidentially in an informal environment
Happy to work flexibly in a small office
Keen to work for a local charity
