Manhattan School for Children compared to Highland ParkElementary in Arizona
Our playground is a good place to relax and hear the birds sing. It’s shady and cool and a nice play to have a picnic and relax and play. In Arizona they found trees and grass and scorpions and spiders and rattlesnakes!. Their playground is different because they found beetles and we didn’t and they found a blue dragonfly and they didn’t. We found trees and they also found trees, and we found gravel and they also found gravel.
Our playground is different because we have ants and they have beetles and dragonflies and ants in Arizona. We think that they have some deadly stuff on their playground. Also, we have monkey bars, and we don’t think they do. We think stuff is so different because it is so hot in Arizona.
Manhattan School for Children compared to Gustavus Elementary in Alaska
Our playground has ants, worms, spiders and flying bugs. We have mud puddles. In Alaska they have snow, blackberries, lichen, stumps, willows, and big rocks. Just like us they have bugs, grass, and dead leaves. We do not live in the country and that is why they have willows, lichen, snow, berries and stumps. The place is far away from here, so there has to be some different animals. It is really cold there.
Manhattan School for Children compared to Rymfire Elementary School
On our playground we have beetles, mud puddles, and birds. We also have sticks and sap on our trees but it doesn’t make good syrup. At Rymfire Elementary School it is cool that they have snails, stink bugs, frogs, lizards, a Jerusalem cricket, white stones, mulch, caterpillars, a ruby red grapefruit tree and a watermelon plant. We wish we had those. Both of our schools are alike because they have worms, ants, spiders, trees, grass, weeds, flying bugs, dirt, metal, leaves, and small rocks.
We think our living and non-living things are different because at Rymfire Elementary it is hot and so they have lizards, spiders, snails, and frogs. We could never grow a ruby red grapefruit tree or have lizards, snakes and a Jerusalem cricket.

At Fairmount School in Maine they have snakes and a frog. They also have big beetles. Both of our playgrounds have beetles, mud, ants, spiders, trees, big rocks, and worms. We think our living and non-living things are different because it is so cold in Maine.
Comparing Manhattan School for Children to Rymfire Elementary Schoolin Palm Coast, Florida
At Manhattan School for Children we have great things on our playground. We have spiders, worms, dirt, birds, acorns, ants and flowers.
On our playground we have lots of grass and hard tar, but in Palm Coast, Florid they have lots of grass and they have sand. We have a little bit of sand, but not enough to play in. Both our schools have trees at our school. We have pine trees and trees with leaves that change in the fall and Rymfire School doesn’t; in Florida they have palm trees. Both our schools have lots of bugs. But the other school found crickets and even lizards! But our other animals are all the same.
Here in New York, we have all seen snow, but in Florida kids haven’t ever seen snow. Their school is also right near the ocean- only 15 miles away, and only 30 minutes away from Daytona Beach. Where we are is also close to the ocean, but we don’t go there much. Their school is warmer because they are closer to the equator than us. Both our schools can have nice weather, but here it gets colder. Where we are is kind of far from Florida.
We think our playgrounds are a lot alike, but there are also a lot of things different. We think some things are different because they are in a suburban community and we are in a rural one, plus it is a lot hotter in Florida.
