Background
The Vic Lyon Scholarship honors the late Victor Lyon, CCIM, as a founder and guiding force in the establishment of the CCIM Institute and (in 1969) the national education program. He was one of the first two CCIM Instructors. Additionally, upon his death in 1990 his bequest established the CCIM Foundation with the goal of supporting advanced real estate academics, research and development for the betterment of the commercial real estate industry.
About the Washington State CCIM Chapter
The Washington State CCIM Chapter is a privately incorporated chapter of the CCIM Institute. The Chapter encompasses the State of Washington as well as northern Idaho and has nearly 200 members from various real estate and real estate-related fields.
About the CCIM Foundation
The CCIM Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Mission of the CCIM Foundation is to advance and foster commercial real estate education through scholarships, programs and initiatives. The CCIM Foundation created named endowed scholarships to honor those who have shown great dedication, commitment, outstanding achievement and service to the commercial real estate industry.
Scholarship Program Guidelines
The VIC LYON SCHOLARSHIP is a $1,000 grant towards a CCIM Core Curriculum class (CI 101, 102, 103, or 104) sponsored by the Washington State CCIM Chapter.
Scholarship Selection Criteria
Includes the following:
· Each applicant should be able to demonstrate a commitment to a commercial real estate career (see application).
· Each applicant should be able to demonstrate active involvement as a dues paying member with the Washington State CCIM Chapter (see application).
· Recipient of this scholarship should have a need for financial assistance.
Scholarship Value
Recipient will receive $1,000 to offset the cost of one of the following CCIM designation courses that the Chapter designates for that year: CI 101, CI 102, CI 103 or CI 104. The course must be sponsored by the Washington State CCIM Chapter and held in the state of Washington. The check will be awarded upon proof of successful completion of the course.

Deadline for Submission to Washington State CCIM Chapter:
The deadline for submission is 21 days before the course date. Because the Chapter will award this scholarship annually and choose the core course to which it will apply, the deadline dates will vary however will always be 21 days prior to the course.
Recipient Notification
The Scholarship recipient will be notified by email no later than one week prior to the commencement of the course.
