Annual Fees for Iowa Organic Processor/Handler Certification

Application fee

$125.00 for first-time applicants and renewal applicationspostmarked on or before the application deadline indicated in the cover letter with therenewal notification.

$225.00for later renewal applications postmarked after the indicated deadline.Failure to submit a renewal application by the indicated deadline may result in the issuance of a Non-compliance or a notice of Proposed Suspension.

Inspection fee

Inspection fees indicated here are for usual update inspections. Any special inspections needed for the addition of elements to the organic operation or for verification of corrective actions will be billed based on the time needed to complete the additional inspection.

Processor/HandlerONLY- $425.00 (minimum):

The minimum inspection fee is to be paid directly to your inspector at the beginning of the on-site inspection of your operation. If actual inspection expenses exceed the minimum inspection fee, the additional expense will be assessed after the inspection.

Combination Production and Processing/Handling:

For operations certifying organic crop and/or livestock production with organic processing/handling, the inspection fee will include all applicable producer inspection fees plus $50.00 per hour for the time the inspector spends doing the processor portion of the inspection.

Certification fee

Refer to the Organic Processors Certification Fee Worksheet on the back of this sheet. Estimate the amount of organic processing you intend to certify and determine your approximate Certification Fees for the year. Your actual certification fees will be determined based upon your Organic Process/Handling Inspection Affidavit and the final staff assessment of your application.

Fee Policies

All fees become non-refundable once the service they are intended to pay for has been provided.

Inspection fees are paid directly to the inspector. Make checks for all other fees payable to the Iowa Department of Agriculture
