Image Mapping Project

You will create a Web site about a geographical location. The “home” page (remember to name it index) will include an image of a map containing at leastthree hotspots linking to related Web pages you will design and create.

Breakdown

  1. The map can be of a local (Swiftwater?), state (Pennsylvania?), country (United States?), Global, etc. Your pick!
  1. Use three different area shapes (rectangle, circle, and polygon) within the map to create the hotspots which link to the other pages in the project.
  1. Create the Web pages to link to from your map. Each page must include the following:
  1. a title with the region name
  2. external links to the sites where you got your information
  3. a summary paragraph about the area linked to —at least 4 sentences (ex: Why people would visit, your experience at that place, history of the place, culture of the place)
  4. a bulleted or numbered list of information relating to the site—at least 3 items (ex: population, main religion, temperature, sites to see, monetary unit, etc.) OR a table
  5. a link back to your main page (index)

Notes:

  1. You may NOT copy and paste the information onto your pages. It must be in your own words. Remember also to cite your sources.
  2. Use your notes on Good Web Design. I will look for elements of good Web design (colors, sizing, white space) when I grade your appearance.
  3. Use your rubric as a guide; do what is required, and then add to it.
  4. 5 points will be deducted for each day the project is late.
  5. You may use Dreamweaver, HTML, Flash, or a combination.
