Philosophy and Ethics / Does God Exist?
Students have been looking at arguments for and against the existence of God in their lessons. For their assessment they need to know and be able to explain:
· At least 2 arguments for the existence of God (Creation, design, religious experience)

Complete revision sheet
Practise PEE of different arguments for and against the existence of God
All materials will be provided on insight
Design and Enterprise* / Practical Assessment- you will be asked to produce drawings showing a variety of different skills. These will include one and two point perspective and isometric drawing.
You will also be asked to design a logo for a company given certain specifications that should be met. / Practice using the techniques we have looked at for perspective and isometric drawing.
Research different companies that sell trainers looking specifically at their logo design, colours used, shapes etc.
Spanish / The Spanish assessment focuses on: reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
Topics covered in assessments: greetings, family, age, birthdays, pets, physical appearance and personality, school subjects & opinions, school buildings, clothes and free time.
Grammar: object pronouns, singular and plural words and verb stars.
Reading: students will be asked to read some Spanish text and answer some questions about it. They will also be translating some text from Spanish into English.
Ability to read and identify key information and understand longer passages will be assessed.
Listening: students will listen to some short recordings in Spanish and will be required to answer some questions and fill in some information about what they hear.
Ability to listen and understand key information from native Spanish speakers will be assessed.
Writing: students will prepare a written passage in class and they will learn this for the written exam. There will also be some phrases to translate into Spanish.
Ability to construct longer passages using accurate spellings, opinions, connectives, justification, variety of vocabulary and different verb endings will be assessed.
Speaking: students will be given a list of potential questions they could be asked for the speaking assessment and time to prepare the answers with support. They will then need to be prepared to answer four or five of them from memory for the assessment. They will be able to bring a list of key words to support them if they wish.
Ability to understand questions and provide full answers along with pronunciation of key sounds and words will be assessed. / · Use vocabulary sheets
· Use all work covered in books
· Use verb stars in books
· Use prepared paragraph in book for written assessment
· Use Google Translate ONLY for pronunciation of words/phrases (NOT for translation as it is inaccurate)
· Use revision sheet provided by Miss Tervit for grammar
Tips for learning vocabulary:
1) Highlight the words in 3 different colours (easy, medium, difficult) and spend more time on the difficult and medium words.
2) Try to memorise 5 or 6 words at a time, cover them up, translate, uncover and check.
3) Ask someone to read the words in either Spanish or English and translate.
4) Use a mini whiteboard to cover up the words on one side of the list and write them out, then check.
5) Make cue cards with pictures or clues on them.
6) Record the words on your phone or iPad leaving a space in between each one. Play back and translate out loud.
Art* / Practical Assessment – you will be asked to produce a drawing from real life objects and add a wide range of tone for a three dimensional appearance.
Written assessment- you will be asked to answer questions on colour theory, tone, scale and proportion. / There are many tutorials available on YouTube for drawing all different types of objects focussing on tone. Find one or two that appeal to you and follow the instructions. Drawing real objects is the best way to improve your technique.
Drama* / Practical assessment of the work you have created in lessons based on the story on Patricks WW2 evacuation. You will be assessed on the final performance of your piece. You will be assessed on your ability to use a range of performance skills such as use of body language, facial expression and tone of voice to create an appropriate character and emotion. You will also be assessed on your use of a range of drama techniques such as: freeze frame and thought-tracking. You will be assessed for both your individual contribution and the final performance for this piece. / You can request to use classroom space at lunch time to rehearse your final performance. You can use BBC Bitesize to look at videos demonstrating effective use of performance skills and techniques such as freeze frames and thought tracking.
Music* / The Music Assessment will focus on applying the knowledge you have learnt about the musical elements and some very basic music theory you have covered in your Monday sessions in a listening test .
Make sure you know the musical elements and the vocabulary we use to describe them.
pitch – high/low, dynamics – loud/soft (think volume), texture – what is happening in the music (monophonic, homophonic, polyphonic for 7a), timbre – the names of orchestral and pop music instruments (You will be asked to listen to the music and suggest which instrument is playing the tune.) rhythm and metre – how many beats in a bar/ simple note values and the symbols used to identify them (1/2 beat, 1 beat, 2 beats, 4 beats) / Listening to instruments http://www.dsokids.com/listen/by-instrument/.aspx
