Emergency Number Professional Certification Achieved
In order to be certified as an ENP, applicants must first meet eligibility requirements that include a combination of experience, education, and professional development in the 9-1-1 field. Candidates then must pass a rigorous examination that demonstrates a mastery of the comprehensive knowledge base required of emergency number program management.
The City of Kingsport has not two, but three, employees who have received their ENP Certification recently. Cathy Matt, Communications Specialist, has been employed since 2000 with the Kingsport Central Dispatch. Christy Swiney, Communications Shift Leader, has been employed since 2005. Richie Hite, Communications Supervisor, has been employed since 1990.
There are currently only 48 ENPs in the state of Tennessee and the City of Kingsport has 4!
Congrats Cathy, Christy and Richie!

Public Relations: Making it Memorable
The City of Kingsport Public Relations Department is implementing a coordinated approach to better communicate and engage its citizens.
To create this engagement, the PR department has implemented various city media initiatives. To name a few, theyproduce 'News of the Week'every Wednesday in the TimesNews. They recently launched a new website that is intuitive and user friendly. The city Facebook page audience is growing every day, and they also havea slot on the digital billboard on Eastman Road that changes weekly.
