Open Transfer Period 2013 – 2014 School Year

North Forest Community Campuses ONLY

In keeping with the District’s promise to every studentattending HISD schools — to be able to attend safe schools with effective teachers and principals – an open transfer period is being made available to current HISD teachers, administrators, and other exempt employees who are interested in seeking a position for the 2013-2014 school year with one of the campuses located in the North Forest community. Theopen transfer period timeline and process is outlined below.

Exempt Employee includes, but is not limited to: Assistant Principal, Dean, Counselor, Nurse, Librarian, Teacher (must be certified), Instructional Specialist, Graduation Coach, etc.

When can exempt staff apply for a transfer?

  • Open transfer period will take place from June 17, 2013 to August 1, 2013. During this period, exempt employees will be permitted to transfer to a campus in the NorthForest community to fill open positions for the 2013–2014 school year. The employee’s current Principal will be required to sign off on the transfer as an acknowledgement that the employee is leaving the campus.
  • Notification from Human Resources of approval or denial will be emailed to the employee by no later than August 16, 2013.
  • Transfers are not approved until the employee has received ane-mail notification from Human Resources.
  • Exempt employees approved to transfer will be eligible to receive a one-time sign-on bonus of $5,000. The bonus will be paid in two equal installments in December 2013 and June 2014.

Who can transfer?

In order to be eligible to transfer, the following criteria must be met:

  1. Must not be on a Prescriptive Plan for Assistance (PPA)
  2. Hold a valid Texas teacher certificate in the requested subject area vacancy*
  3. Meet “Highly Qualified” standards of NCLB for the position*
  4. Must not be entering a 4th year probationary status*

Job Fair

A job fair for those interested in a position will be held on Monday, June 17th at Gregory-Lincoln Middle School located at 1101 Taft, Houston 77019 from 2:00-4:00pm (Non-exempt positions) and 4:00-6:30pm (Exempt).

Where do I submit the completed transfer request form?

  • Once you have all the signatures, scan and email the form to with “Transfer-Last Name-First Name-Name of Receiving School” in the subject line.
