A RESOLUTION condemning the recent remarks of Craig Kilborn, host of the Late, Late Show on the CBS television network.
WHEREAS, this body has specifically noted, with repugnance tempered with sadness, the recent shallow remarks of Craig Kilborn, host of the Late, Late Show on the CBS television network in reference to the powerful tornado that tore through Owensboro, Kentucky, on Monday, January 3, 2000, leaving a path of devastation that affected many Kentucky families; this terrible tragedy demolished buildings and homes, leaving many families with only the clothes on their backs and shattered memories; and
WHEREAS, Craig Kilborn had a total lack of compassion for the tornado victims and lack of respect for the Commonwealth of Kentucky with his comments about Owensboro residents getting brand new trailer houses and renaming Kentucky "Ken-sucky"; and
WHEREAS, Craig Kilborn's comments were inappropriate, disrespectful, and unacceptable criticisms that have not only resulted in hurting the victims of this tragedy but have also cast a negative cloud over his employer, CBS;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky is deeply aggrieved at the lack of compassion shown by Craig Kilborn's remarks about the tornado disaster in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Section 2. The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky believes that Craig Kilborn owes an apology to the citizens of Kentucky for his recent tasteless comments on national television.
Section 1. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mr. Mel Karmazin, President, CBS Corporation, 51 West 52nd Street, New York, New York 10019.
