Step 1. Concept:

A. The project will improve [what curriculum] for [which students] [in which school]

B. Students (and Teachers) will improve their understanding of [what lesson/unit/skill] through the integration of [what technology]

C. The major outcome of the project will be [improved achievement on what]

[as evidenced by what observables]


Step 2. Problem Statement:

Provide evidence that your school has this problem or need.

There are five common types of evidence:

1. objective data (test scores, surveys, etc.)

2. school or district initiatives

3. state or federal mandates

4. professional society reports

5. teacher or other local observation

Use one or more of these to support your proposal. Your school and community case study is a likely source of evidence.

Step 3. Goals/Objectives/Activities:

1. Goal List 1 (to 3) specific Goals of Proposal. [Consistent with Concept lessons and technology]

Step 4. Project Description:

Narrative description of proposal.

A. Describe major implementation features of proposal.

How will the project be conducted.

"Paint" a word picture of proposal in action.

B. Describe the location where proposal will be implemented. Include relevant demographic, socio-economic, philosophical, and mission data. Craft a mini-case study that "paints" a word picture of site, and supports your claim that a need/problem exists.

C. The State of the Art

Describe similar projects and results in other schools.


Step 5. Timeline/Action Plan:

What will be done, by whom, when.

for example:

October - Activities for Objective 1

November - Activities for Objective 2

December - Activities for Objective 3

January - Student project work

February - Project Sharing Celebration


Step 6. Budget Lines:

Include all that apply.

Ask for support that is optimum (you can always consider scaling back later).

Step 7. Evaluation of Project:

Describe how you will monitor and determine success of project.

Measure and/or report on Major Outcomes mentioned in Concept Section, as well as each Objective


Step 8. Title of Project:

Try to capture spirit of proposal in a few words or an acronym.
