TALENT SHOW HELP NEEDED

Dublin Elementary School is in need of a parent that can help run the sound/music system for the talent show dates. These dates are March 24th and 25th. Please contact Talent Show Chairperson Ellen Tersigni at or one of the PFC Vice-Presidents, Julie Clingerman at or Kate Flynn at to volunteer or for more information.

READER’S DIGEST MAGAZINES NEEDED

A tutor of English Language Learners is in need of some Reader's Digest magazines. If you have back issues of Reader's Digest that you are willing to part with, they would be a good source of reading material for the students who are reading at about the 6th grade level. There will be a collection box in the office. Thanks for your support

DRINK POUCH RECYCLING PROGRAM
As part of their Girl Scout Bronze Award, Girl Scout Troop 30071 is starting a new recycling program at our school. Capri Sun, Honest Kids and TerraCycle have teamed up to sponsor a recycling program for drink pouches (see below information below). There will be special boxes in the cafeteria for the students to put their empty drink pouches in during lunch. Troop 30071 would appreciate it if families could also save their empty drink pouches

and bring them in. The school will receive 2 cents per pouch and help the environment! They accept any brand of drink pouch; they do not accept juice boxes. The pouches do not need to be cleaned out but need to be empty. The best way to save and store them is in a sealed plastic bag. The Girl Scout troop will be maintaining this program through the end of the school year. Thanks in advance for your support! All proceeds go directly to our school! If you have any questions, please contact Angela Butler at .

Recycle your waste with Capri Sun® and Honest Kids®

Every year, BILLIONS of drink pouches end up in dumpsters and landfills across America. TerraCycle®, Capri Sun® and Honest Kids® are working together to put an end to this awful loss of resources. As an eco-friendly innovator, TerraCycle converts the drink pouch material into unique fashion bags, tote bags, pencil cases, and other items for kids and adults! TerraCycle is proud to team up with the largest producer of drink pouches in the country, Capri Sun, and a young organic entry into the market, Honest Kids, to help address this problem! Together with your help we CAN make a difference!

The TerraCycle Drink Pouch Brigade program allows almost any school, non-profit organization or individual to save drink pouches from taking up space in landfills. TerraCycle will pay $0.02 per drink pouch to the charity, school or non-profit organization of your choice.

LEARN HOW TO STRENGTH IN YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM AND IMPROVE YOUR OVERALL HEALTH

The Dublin Elementary School community is invited to attend an exclusive lunchtime lecture on Preventative Health at the Shaklee Global Headquarter in Pleasanton on Thursday, March 24th from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM. If you or your child suffer from seasonal allergies, get sick often, have frequent ear infections, have asthma or have a family history of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, or stroke, you won’t want to miss this lecture! Dr. Jamie McManus is the chairman of medical affairs and health sciences at Shaklee and is a very knowledgeable and dynamic speaker. She will provide simple steps on things you can do to improve your immune system function and create better health naturally. There will be time for personal questions at the end of the lecture. Space is limited, so RSVP ASAP to Andrea Reak: or 925-556-1977.

USAGAIN BINS

Instead of throwing your unwanted clothes in the trash put them in the USAgain bin located

in the school parking lot. USAgain turns your unwanted clothing, shoes and other items from trash to cash for Dublin Elementary School! You will reduce your carbon footprint when you donate to USAgain. Clothes dropped in the bins are diverted from landfills to be reworn, reused or recycled. In fact, every pound of textiles collected saves 7 pounds of C02. USAgain collects one million pounds of clothing per week, which is then purchased by thrift store chains and wholesalers, in many cases to be worn by people in the US and struggling countries who cannot afford new clothes. Donations are not tax deductable. You may drop off shoes, clothing items, gloves, hats, linens, blankets, and towels. Please drop off items in closed bags.

SUPPLIES FOR 2011-2012

Last year’s school supply sale earned our teacher’s fund just over $1700 to restock classroom supplies, purchase copy paper, and help with teacher needs such as laminate and copy overages. We’re again offering the OPTION this year to pre-purchase school supplies for your convenience.

This year all supply packs will be individually labeled with your child’s name, and will be delivered to your child’s classroom prior to the first day of school.

Our school earns rebates from our vendor, EPI, which will be again be used to purchase supplies as needed for classrooms throughout the year. For tracking reasons, all ordering will be done online and be available from March 10-June 17, 2011. This large window will allow parents to choose a time that best suits their budgets. If you have multiple children, you could even buy one pack in March, one in April, and one in May instead of buying all at once.

Look for a flyer coming home today with pricing and email address for online ordering. If you have questions or feedback please contact Laura Wharton at or 925-556-1431.
