A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND APPRECIATION FOR THE REMARKABLE LIFE OF EVANGELIST ELIZABETH “LIZ” FREDERICK ORR OF HAMPTON COUNTY AND TO EXTEND SINCERE SYMPATHY TO HER LARGE AND LOVING FAMILY AND HER MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were saddened to learn of the untimely loss of Evangelist Elizabeth “Liz” Frederick Orr at the age of fiftyone on January 23, 2016; and
Whereas, born in Allendale on October 11, 1964, she was the daughter of the late Annie Lee Frederick and Kenneth Williams and graduated from AllendaleFairfax High School in 1981, in the top ten of her class; and
Whereas, in 2003, Liz Orr began working at LeCreuset of America in Early Branch, where she served as a payroll accountant until her health began to fail. During her time at LeCreuset, she earned an associate’s degree from the University of South Carolina; and
Whereas, she loved the Lord with all of her heart, mind, body, and soul and was passionate about helping young people, working in ministry, loving and caring for her family, and giving back to her church and community; and
Whereas, Liz Orr was a faithful member of and licensed evangelist at Kingdom Touch Ministries in Ridgeland; and
Whereas, after her diagnosis of stage IV colon cancer in 2011, she began keeping private journals to record her journey with the illness that led to her first published book, Last Stage When Life Happens, the Diary of Elizabeth Orr; and
Whereas, with her diagnosis came the likely prognosis that she had only six months to live, but she responded by noticing the little things around her and not taking life for granted, choosing instead to live a life full of faith, love, and hope in the midst of cancer. She lived another five years encouraging others; and
Whereas, Liz Orr epitomized courage, humor, perseverance, and grace and was a mentor and motivator to everyone she met. She organized Circle of Hope, a cancer support group to assist and uplift those who also were battling cancer; and
Whereas, together with her beloved husband of thirtyfour years, Minister George E. Orr, Jr., she reared three fine sons: Edwin Jamel, Randall Jaquay, and George Anthony. They blessed her with two adoring grandchildren, Jalen and Gianna Elizabeth; and
Whereas, she worked closely with the Hampton County Relay for Life, Bosom Buddies, and on January 21, 2016, only two short days before her passing, she was honored as Person of the Year by the Hampton County Chamber of Commerce; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives celebrate the life and legacy of Liz Orr and the example of sacrifice and kindness she set for all who knew her; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives adjourned in memory of Liz Orr on January 27, 2016. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound appreciation for the remarkable life of Evangelist Elizabeth Frederick Orr of Hampton County and extend their sincere sympathy to her large and loving family and her many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to the family of Evangelist Elizabeth Frederick Orr.
