To all Lindbergh Flyerette Applicants:
Thank you for your interest in trying out for our team. Our activities begin with the Spirit Festival performance in May. In June we host the Lindbergh Flyerette Pom Pon Camp, which is one of our main fundraisers. The Varsity and JV teams attend UDA Camp in July. Team practices begin in August from 8-10 a.m. When school starts we will practice Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3-5 p.m. When we are getting ready for major performances, we will either increase the number of practices or lengthen them as needed. Your attendance at all practices is required in order to be eligible to perform.
Varsity and Junior Varsity will perform at the Varsity football games on Friday evenings at 7:00. Varsity will also perform at Varsity Basketball games on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 7:00 and Junior Varsity will perform at Junior Varsity Basketball games on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 5:30. There will also be additional performances throughout the year, including competitions and community events. Both Varsity and JV attend the National Dance Team Championships in Orlando, FL in early February.
As with any performing group, there are expenses each member must incur. In the past, girls have spent around $450 on uniforms during their first year on the team. In addition, there is a $50 returnable required uniform deposit. Summer camp, a regional competition in Chicago and a national competition in Orlando, Florida totaled $1,230 per girl for the 2011-2012 school year. Dues to cover incidentals throughout the school year ran $165 last year. Please do not let these costs prevent you from trying out for the team. Through various fundraising activities ofparents and girls, approximately $400 of these costs was covered for each Flyerette. Payment due datesarealso spread throughout the year to help with family budgets.
No video taping during the clinics or auditions is allowed. The actual tryout audition will be closed to the public. If you have any questions, please feel free to contactany of the coaches listed below.
Sincerely,
