KIDS’ HEALTH & SAFETY

Blanket Statement

By now, you know that placing your baby on his back to sleep will reduce his risk of SIDS. You should also be sure to remove all soft bedding from your infant’s sleep area to avoid suffocation, says the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.

Follow these tips for a safer night’s rest:

· Make sure his crib is clear of pillows, comforters, quilts and stuffed toys.

· Make sure your baby’s head stays uncovered.

· Consider dressing your baby in a sleeper instead of using blankets. If you do use a blanket, place your baby’s feet at the foot of the crib and tuck the blanket snugly around the mattress, reaching only as far as your baby’s chest – this will discourage him from crawling under the covers.
