Welcome to 7th Grade Environmental Studies/STEAM Magnet!

Dear Parents and Incoming 7th Graders,

Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! We are very excited to have the opportunity to work in a grade level interdisciplinary team where all teachers are committed to providing solid standard-based instruction. Some of the basic policies and procedures will be common in all classes, while other procedures will remain subject-specific. It is important that you review the contents of this letter with your son/daughter. Sign, cut off and return the back (bottom) of this paper to your homeroom teacher, and keep the remaining parts of the letter for future references.

Suggested Supplies for CORE SUBJECT CLASSES

MATH
___ 1 Spiral Notebook- college ruled, with sturdy cover (140-200 pages)
___ 1 pack of 50+ pages of graph paper
___ 1 plastic folder with two pockets
___ 100 index cards and one rubber band to hold cards
___ 1 scientific calculator
___ 1 ruler
ENGLISH
___ 1 NEW hard binder (1 -1 ½ Inch) This is used for ENGLISH class ONLY.
___ 5 dividers (to be placed in binder)
___ 100-200 college ruled LINED paper (for binder) -- NO Spiral Notebook Paper
___ 100 index cards (any size or color) and 1 rubber band to hold cards
SCIENCE
___ ONE 2 Subject Spiral Notebook with 8 ½ x 11 pages and pocket dividers
SOCIAL STUDIES
___ 11 (ELEVEN) 3-prong construction paper-type folders (Solid colors, but no black)
Bring only 1 folder on the first day of school and keep the rest at home.
___ 100-200 college ruled (not wide ruled) LINED PAPER. No spiral notebook paper.
___ 100 index cards (any size or color) and 1 rubber band to hold cards

HOMEWORK

Parents, please check DAILY PLANNERS and SCHOOLOGY for assignments in all classes. (Schoology will replace Jupiter Grades in the fall. Parents will receive access to Schoology at the beginning of the school year.) LATE WORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

COMMUNICATION

· Students are expected to write the posted homework in their Daily Planners

· Grades and teachers’ email addresses are available on Schoology.

· Students are encouraged to communicate for themselves -- not to rely on their parents
