YOUTH ART SALE 2016 | CALL FOR ARTISTS

What: The Youth Art Sale is a one-day juried art sale held during the Festival of the Arts.

When: Saturday, April 23rd 2016 from 11am to 5pm.

Who: YAS features young artists working in diverse visual media including 2-D & 3-D art. Students ages 8-18 residing in Oklahoma, Cleveland, Lincoln, Pottawatomie, Canadian, Kingfisher, Logan, McClain, and Seminole counties are encouraged to apply. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 18th at 5 pm. No late submissions will be accepted.

Where: Special Events Pavilion, Northwest Corner of Bicentennial Park.

How much: There is a $10 entry fee. Please contact us at if unable to pay.

Why: The Youth Art Sale provides an opportunity for youth to showcase and sell their work in a venue that is comparable to what professional artists at Festival of the Arts experience. Artists may keep all of their proceeds. However, we encourage young artists to consider giving back to their community by donating a portion of their proceeds to Arts Council Oklahoma City’s All Access Arts program.

REQUIREMENTS

  • The artist must design and make all work, and all artwork must be original.
  • Artists must enter individually. NO TEAMSARE ALLOWED.
  • Artists must personally be present at their booths during the entire day. Representatives, including family members, may NOT attend in place of the artist.All artists must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • Onlyitems as represented in submittedphotographs with the application may be displayed. For example, if photos of jewelry are submitted, you may not sell sculptures that were not submitted.
  • Artists may not use their booths to display samples of items to be delivered later. Sales should be on a “cash and carry” basis.
  • Artists must bring a cash box and proper change for customers. The use of Square devices for credit cards is permitted. The Arts Council Oklahoma City will be unable to make change.
  • Notification of Acceptance will be emailed no later than Friday, March 25th, 2016 and will also be posted online.
  • If accepted, artists must watch the introductory “Youth Arts Sale” video onlineas preparation for the sale day. Link: The video will go live by March 30th.
  • Artists should wear an identifying button provided by the ACOKC at all times during the Youth Art Sale.
  • All applicants must provide TWO active email addresses and an accurate physical address. Most communication will take place via email, so please add to your contacts to ensure that emails don’t go to spam folders. It is the participants and/or adults’ responsibility to monitor and respond to all correspondence.
  • Artist must track sales and turn in data to Youth Art Sale committee at the end of the event.

The following are absolutely prohibited:

  • Work made from kits; direct copies of others’ pre-existing art.
  • The direct use of licensed, trademarked, or copyrighted characters or names.
  • Services such as face painting, hair braiding, nailpainting or flower arranging; on-site personalization or monogramming; or food sales.
  • Commercial advertisements of any kind.

BOOTH INFORMATION

  • Booths should be simple and functional. Each artist will have a 3’ x 5’ space. Displays may not extend beyond these dimensions.Committee members will be on hand to help with space allocation.
  • Booth set-up and tear-down should take no longer than one hour with minimal adult help. Setup begins no earlier than 9 am on the sale day.
  • Each artist must provide a table (such as a card table or folding table), any chairsas needed, and all materials necessary for display. Some participants use store fixtures for display but this isn’t required.
  • Late April can bring turbulent weather. The pavilion provides overhead shelter, but rain, wind, and humidity are possible. Please plan your booth accordingly.

SUBMISSIONS

  • Artwork submissions are accepted ONLINE ONLY via email at
  • Participants may submit NO MORE THAN FOUR .jpg files of their work. Image files should be labelled with last name, first name and artwork title, separated by underscores. Please do not include special characters or spaces in file names. Images may not exceed 2 MB. Images may be sent separately if senders’ email will not enable sending in one email; however, sending in one email is preferred.
  • Images must be accompanied by the Art Information Form (see below). The form may be scanned and emailed as an attachment with the photos OR the form information, including the 50-word artist statement/description, may be included in the body of the email. I hereby give my permission for the Arts Council Oklahoma City, or any other media outlet and platform that the Arts Council Oklahoma City may choose, to publish the name and photos of my minor child’s artwork and my minor child’s name and age. I acknowledge that participation is voluntary and that neither I, nor the minor child, or minor children listed below will receive financial compensation of any type associated with the taking or publication of these photographs or participation in marketing materials or other publications. I acknowledge and agree that publication of said photos confers no rights of ownership or royalties whatsoever.

I hereby fully and forever discharge and release the Arts Council Oklahoma City from any claim for damages of any kind (including, but not limited to, invasion of privacy; defamation; false light or misappropriation of name, likeness or image) arising out of the use or publication of photographs of my minor children by the Arts Council Oklahoma City and covenant and agree not to sue or otherwise initiate legal proceedings against the Arts Council Oklahoma City for such use or publication on my own behalf or on behalf of my minor children.
