- Building/Construction-Tom Mayo

- OIEC-Brandon Washington
· Training modules that link to policy, process and accommodations are online starting September 8th
· Staff may complete at their own pace
· Not mandatory but recommended
· Revisions in place for employee accommodations became effective September 1st
- Adaptive Services-Cori Bright-Kerrigan
· Adaptive Services moved to the Wellness Building in August
· One of the highlights of the move include additional testing spaces
· Hired an Assistant Director/Case Manager
· Hired a new Testing Coordinator who will start October 12
· Office hours have been extended
· Office of Community Outreach has scheduled Cori to speak at the “I am Able” event on September 24th
6. Old Business
- ADA Resource Fair
· The ADA Resource Fair promotes community awareness of individuals with
disabilities
· The date of the fair is October 14th and will run 10-2 on the Library Lawn
· Adam James will be the guest speaker
· Some FGCU departments are tabling
· Let Cori know by October 5th if anyone needs technology support at their table
- Campus accessibility survey
· The committee decided to move forward with the survey
· A subcommittee was set up composed of Matthew Walzer, Jennifer Baker, Chad
Caldwell and Paul Allen who will be tech support
· Cori will email the subcommittee for dates and times to meet
- Emergency Plan for Individuals with Disabilities—addendum to CEMP
· Cori continues to work with Gerald Campbell on finalizing and bringing it to the committee
· R Green asked if there can be a disability training course for faculty/staff and a different course for students
· Cori and Brandon will discuss and update the committee
7. New Business
· Matthew Walzer brought up the issue with accessibility getting into the Library from the front entrance
o Mario Bernardo stated that there was an easier access through the Library West entrance, where the CAA is located
· Another issue was brought up regarding the trash bins on campus that have a handle and need to be pulled down to open; can be difficult for some individuals depending on their disability
o It was noted that SG is thinking about getting rid of outside trash cans/bins and moving them indoors due to bear activity on campus. Karli, our SG Rep, will take the concern back to SG for consideration
· Another issue brought up was regarding the hazards of students riding bikes/longboards/skateboards under the covered walkways
o Discussion included that UPD had put up signage regarding the campus policy and that all faculty and staff can enforce that policy
· Cori reminded the committee that the agenda and committee minutes are posted on the Adaptive Services website
· In honor of the 25th anniversary of ADA, the Library will have a display of the history of the ADA, which includes quotes from students, faculty and staff
