Course Goals and Objectives

The major goal of this class is to help each student gain an understanding and appreciation for the United States’ system of government. In today’s changing world; civic understanding requires knowledge and communication. The student will leave the course with ability to make sound and Godly decisions in his/her life concerning their civic responsibility.

Evaluations

The student’s grade will be determined by their performance in the following areas:

1.)TEST100pts. 60%

Will cover a chapter(s) noted during the period of lectures and accounts for your knowledge gained for the course.

2.)Quizzes50pts20%

These will be administered every Friday on the material covered for that specific week, unless a test is administered on that particular Friday. If you are absent, then you will be allowed to take your score from the next weeks quiz rather than receiving a zero.

3.)Daily Assignments/Homework10pts10%

This consists of daily ASAP and class assignments pertaining to the content.

4.)Research Papers/Group Projects/NB 100pts10%

These are various assignments given throughout the year. More information on these assignments will be given separately at a later date.

Materials

Each student is required to bring their textbook, notebook, writing utensil, and a Godly attitude daily. Supplemental materials such as newspapers, magazines, and technological devices are required as well.

Technology Devices

Cell phones are not to be used at anytime in this class. The only hand held devices that can be used are tablets and laptops when the teacher permits.

FREE TIP

Expecting to do well in this class without reading the text is unrealistic and puts the student at a disadvantage. I strongly urge you to read the assignments and take notes on a daily basis.
