Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College

Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College has approximately 2000 students and almost 700 students use the College bus services each day. The College is seeking to appoint two End of Day Duty Officers to supervise students waiting for College buses at the end of each day. You will act as an important liaison for the College to facilitate the smooth running of this service and provide a point of contact for any day-to-day issues that might arise.


Post: End of Day Duty Officer

Grade: Pt. 21 on the Support Staff Payscale

£17,946 per annum, pro rata

(Hourly Rate £9.33 per hour)

Responsible to: Estate Manager

As part of the Estate Team you will play an important role, ensuring the smooth running of the bus services and providing a point of contact for day-to-day issues as they arise.

Working Monday to Friday during term time, you will act as an important liaison between the contracted bus services, the students and occasionally their parents. Duties will include monitoring and supporting students waiting for their buses, ensuring that any issues are dealt with effectively; making appropriate arrangements for students that might have missed their bus and communicating effectively with the bus companies, drivers, students and members of the public as the need arises.

Responsibilities of the Post:

·  Monitoring and supporting students waiting for buses

·  Ensuring public access on paths when students are waiting at bus stops

·  Liaising between the bus companies and students if buses are late or if there are any other issues

·  Making arrangements for any students that miss their bus

·  Spot checking bus passes

This job description is a guide to the major responsibilities of the post holder. Other duties may be added at the reasonable request of the Principal and the job description itself may be revised from time to time (after discussion with the Principal) as the needs of the College change.

Although no formal qualifications are required for this role, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

Salary and Conditions of Service

Part time – 5 hours per week

Fixed term, to July 2018

The normal working day will be 4.00pm to 5.00pm working Monday to Friday with holidays taken within the College holiday periods.

The contract will be based on a model for support staff produced by the National Joint Council of the Sixth Form Colleges’ Association.
