Deathboat Terence Moody
This is the tale of a cold-blooded murder. This is a mystery that puzzled the police for a long time. The suspects were the captain and Waverly’s lover, Brent Reilly, her lady-in-waiting, Dora Snook, and her Doctor, Curtis Lightbody. They were all on Waverly’s yacht eating a meal that was prepared by her lady-in-waiting Dora Snook.
Captain Reilly left the dinner table without eating a single bite. He had to repair the ship’s radar and autopilot because they had broken down. Waverly was upset because this was her Birthday. Dora Snook served Waverly and Dr. Lightbody tea and then left for her room. Dora sat in her room thinking angrily, “Shouldn’t I be entitled to some of the cash too? And not just this lousy 600 dollars a month.”
Dora and Waverly had been roommates before Dora was her lady-in-waiting. They were both very close to penniless and barely had enough to get by. Waverly used to have to steal at times for them to eat. One day Dora and Waverly were down to just a 5 dollar bill and Waverly told Dora to run down to the corner store and buy groceries with it. While Dora was there she not only bought groceries but also bought a lottery ticket. The lottery ticket happened to be a winner and the start of Dora’s troubles. Even though it was Dora’s idea to buy the ticket it was Waverly who paid for the ticket. Waverly claimed all of the money and in a very small amount of consideration made Dora her maid in waiting. This infuriated Dora. After all, shouldn’t she get that same amount as Waverly?
Dora sat in her room plotting and scheming. She knew she had to confront Waverly before there was no money left. Waverly often went on shopping sprees and most of the original 20 million was gone. Dora felt that now more than ever was the time for her to get her cut of the money.
Dora approached Waverly and said, “Enough is enough Waverly I am tired of this” and, “this isn’t fair you know you wouldn’t have all of this money if it wasn’t for me.” Waverly responded, “It was my money that bought the ticket so I am entitled to it all.” Dora shouted “This isn’t fair and you know it!” She spoke again, “all you ever do is spend the money on stupid things that you end up hating yourself over afterwards.” And, “This is ridiculous I should be entitled to far more than this crummy 600$ a month.” In a fit of rage Waverly stormed off into her suite and locked the door behind her.
Dora later snuck into Waverly’s room through the airing cupboard. She snuck in and found Waverly running toward the deck where she began to vomit. Dora snuck up behind her and with a swift boot sent Waverly through the guard rails. Dora then began to ransack the room looking for the 2 million Waverly had withdrew for her honeymoon with Reilly. She searched the draws leaving cloths thrown all about. She finally found it all hidden in a safe behind a portrait. Greedily she gripped the money tight. She then remember the receipts and bank statements Waverly had so she threw them in the bathtub and burned them so that the police wouldn’t notice the missing 2 million. Now with the money she snuck back out though the cupboard and into her room as though nothing had happened.
After a while Captain Reilly called Waverly’s room to tell her the ships computer had been fixed. When he got no response he headed to her room where he kicked the door in and found her missing. He alerted the coastguards who promptly arrived shortly after. They found Waverly’s body half eaten by sharks floating later on. They locked Dora in the room for questioning. When the investigators arrived they interrogated the captain first and then Dora. They rained question after question upon her. She answered each one calmly and tried to paint off Lightbody as the criminal being that he already had a shady past.
Dora figured that she committed the perfect crime after the police couldn’t figure out who the suspect was. The investigators looked through the evidence over and over again and none of the suspects seemed any more suspicious than the others. Nothing seemed to add up making this a very difficult case.
Then after a while it all came together when they saw a picture of Waverly leaving a bank with Dora following behind her. At that moment it all clicked together. Dora had known about the money Waverly have withdrawn that’s why she burned that receipts and bank statements so that the investigators wouldn’t notice the missing money. She also didn’t touch the jewelry because she alone besides Waverly knew that they were just cheap copies of the real ones inside the bank. They also noticed that the vomit was different from the meal served earlier leading them to believe she had gone to her cupboard for a snack and left it open allowing Dora to get into the room. With this the investigators finally had a case. Dora was charged with the murder of Waverly Berg. She was found guilty and sentenced to life without a chance for parole.
