Udaan Recruitment Drive – Takes wings in Valley

  • Over 5,500 youth turnout at the selection drive in Srinagar
  • An estimated 2,000 selections made by 18 corporates from across India

Srinagar, 19 November:The two day recruitment drive under Udaan turned out to be a massive success with over 5000 youth from the valley appearing for selection. 18 corporates representing a wide range of sectors like IT, ITES, Consulting, Banking and Security Services conducted nearly 5,500 interviews over two days in Srinagar, selecting around 2,000 candidates.

Initial estimates suggest that over 2,000training offers were made from this recruitment drive.Some of India’s largest corporations participated in this massive recruitment drive including Genpact, IL&FS, CMC, Reliance HR Services, Accenture, Safe Express,Ratnakar Bank and others.

Post the selection the recruits will be trained by the respective corporates over three to six months after which job offers will be made for placements across the country.

Commenting the successful completion of the Udaan Recuritment Drive, Mr. Atul Bhatnagar, COO, National Skill Development Corporation, said, "We, at NSDC, always have high expectations regarding the participation J&K youth in Udaan. This time we have been overwhelmed by the unbelievable turnout of candidates at SKICC, Srinagar over the last two days. We would like to thank 18 corporates, our Udaan partner, who participated in this recruitment drive. Each one of them had something good to say about the quality and enthusiasm shown by the candidates desirous of skill development leading to employment. Some of the Udaan partners' desks were manned by their employees who had previously been recruited through the Udaan programme. We salute the spirit of youth in J&K and hope that many more will join in the forthcoming recruitment drives in other districts of the state".

The recruitment drive that took place on 18thand 19thNovember was preceded by a conference on 17thNovember, where all the stakeholders within Udaan ecosystem met and discussed the challenges and way forward to make the programme a big success.

Since inception nearly 10,500youth of Jammu and Kashmir have been selected under Udaan.
