A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE CHAPIN HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM FOR WINNING THE STATE CLASS AA CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP FOR 2002.
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were very pleased to learn that the Chapin High School girls cross country team won the 2002 Class AA championship by edging Pelion 6277; and
Whereas, the Chapin girls this year under the able leadership of Coach Jack LeGrand and Assistant Coach Patsy Nutt continued their tradition of excellence in cross country where they have been one of the best teams in the State for over a decade. This championship marks the third time the Lady Eagles have been the best in the State in their classification; and
Whereas, Chapin had several outstanding performers at the state meet. Amber Hines was the first Chapin runner to cross the finish line. She came in third. Chapin’s Jean Whyte placed eighth, Christin Boatwright placed sixteenth, Ashyln Ruczko placed eighteenth, and Erin Lovelace placed twentieth; and
Whereas, the members of the Chapin High School girls cross country team this season were: Susie Baker, Alexis Bennett, Christin Boatwright, Ashley Bosco, Katelyn Bowling, Savannah Camp, Sagan Cantor, Amy Dix, Melissa Pinner, Melissa Dunn, Brittany Lee Durham, Alyssa Gray, Amber Hines, Kensey LeGrand, Erin Lovelace, Christa McNeillie, Sara Montgomery, Caroline Nelson, Mandy Newton, Claudia Nunez, Olga Nunez, Ashlyn Ruczko, Stefka Sadler, Caroline Weber, Whitney Westermeyer, Jean Whyte, and Lindsey Whiting.
Whereas, this wonderful group of girls by their accomplishments this season has brought deserved recognition and credit not only upon themselves and their school but upon Lexington County as well; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, would like to congratulate the Chapin Girls Cross Country team for winning this truly deserved championship. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives congratulate the Chapin High School girls cross country team for winning the State Class AA Cross Country Championship for 2002.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Jack LeGrand.
