Functional Area: Asset Accounting / Run Depreciation Report
Purpose
Use this procedure to generate a depreciation report that shows planned depreciation for the current year.
Trigger
Perform this procedure when you are ready to post depreciation.

None
Menu Path
Use the following menu path to begin this transaction:
  • Select AccountingFinancial AccountingFixed AssetsInformation SystemReports on Asset AccountingPreparations for closingInternationalS_ALR_87012035 – Depreciation Current Year to go to the Depreciation screen.

  • The R/O/C column in the field description tables below defines whether the field is required (R), optional (O), or conditional (C).
  • On certain screens you may have to scroll to view some data entry fields.
  • To report on Actual (vs. Planned) depreciation use transaction AFABN.

1. / Start the transaction using the menu path or transaction code.

Asset number / Optional / A unique identifier assigned to every asset in SAP

Asset class / Optional / Each asset is categorized in an asset class which determines their useful life and depreciation schedule.

4. / Select to the right of List assets , main numbers only , or group totals only.

Balance sheet account / Optional / Indicator identifying if the new account is a balance sheet account; Balance sheet items include assets, liabilities, and equity accounts

Planned depreciation / Optional / Ordinary depreciation that is planned for the asset in the current fiscal year

7. / Select to the left of Display special dep.separately.
/ If the Display special dep.separately indicator is set, the report displays the following different depreciation types separately: Ordinary Depreciation, Special Depreciation, Unplanned Depreciation, and Transfer of Reserves.
8. / As required, complete/review the following fields:

Simulation version / Optional / Version for the simulation of the development of asset values
The version contains alternative parameters for the valuation of assets (such as depreciation key, useful life, and so on). You can enter this sort version when calling up asset reports. In this way, you can simulate the valuation of assets on the basis of different rules for valuation. However, this is only possible in reports that refer to the asset balance (for example, asset or depreciation lists).
