Student Behavior in the Classroom:
Student behavior that interferes with an instructor’s ability to conduct a class or other students' opportunity to learn is unacceptable and disruptive and will not be tolerated in any instructional forum at UNT. Students engaging in unacceptable behavior will be directed to leave the classroom and the instructor may refer the student to the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities to consider whether the student's conduct violated the Code of Student Conduct. The university's expectations for student conduct apply to all instructional forums, including university and electronic classroom, labs, discussion groups, field trips, etc. The Code of Student Conduct can be found at

Course Objectives:
Improve conversational, reading, and writing skills.
Increase range and recall of vocabulary.
Improve understanding and proper use of grammar.
Apply the grammatical concepts learned.
The chapters will be covered in the order presented in the textbook. Upon completion of each grammar chapter, you will have a test over that information.
Grading:
Chapter exams for 2040, 30 points each
Final exam for 2040, 30 points
Chapter exams for 2050, 30 points each
Final exam for 2050, 30 points
Explanation of grades:
90% - 100% =A
80% - 89% =B
70% - 79% =C
60% - 69% =D
59% or lower =F
This guideline applies both to chapter exams and to the final grades for 2040 and for 2050 (you will receive a grade for each course).
Attendance:
Since this is an accelerated course, attendance is crucial and required. If you become ill and must miss class, please meet with me when you feel better, so that I can talk to you about the material you have missed. The accelerated Spanish 2040/2050 is difficult. We cover the material at a very fast pace. Missing several hours on the subjunctive mood is not something I would advise. There will be no make-up exams, unless you are ill. Besides, we are in Puebla to practice our Spanish and to have fun! So let’s make the most of it!
Use of Spanish in the classroom:
At UNT, each Spanish instructor in the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures tries to speak as much Spanish in the classroom as possible. It will be no different while we are in Puebla. Therefore, you too will be expected to use as much Spanish as you can to communicate while in class. Please do not feel every word you speak must be perfect. The important thing is to try. The more Spanish you speak, the easier it will get, and the more fluent you will become.

Students may be featured in promotional photos and/or videos. Please let me know if you prefer not to appear in promotional materials that could be used at UNT when promoting this program in the future.
Course/Professor Evaluation:
The Student Evaluation of Teaching Effectiveness (SETE) is a requirement for all organized classes at UNT. This short survey will be made available to you at the end of the semester, providing you a chance to comment on how this class is taught. I am very interested in the feedback I get from students, as I work to continually improve my teaching. I consider the SETE to be an important part of your participation in this class.
