· Membership supports a group that lobbies the interests of racehorse welfare and safety and the interests of veterinary surgeons involved in the racing industry. The ARVS works closely with the British Horseracing Authority to this end. The ARVS has been instrumental in improving the standard of veterinary care and welfare of horses on UK racecourses through the provision of quality CPD in the annual Casualty Management Seminar and Summer Scientific Meetings. These meetings also provide an important opportunity for discussion on the management of injury and disease on and off the racecourse. These courses are very applicable to veterinary surgeons providing services at other Sports Horse events.

· Membership entitles all members to significant discount to the above CPD courses.

· Newsletters are circulated regularly to keep members up to date with regulatory issues and topical subjects in the racing industry.

· Practice £100 includes all veterinary surgeons within a practice
