Hello--

Attached please find more information, including photos, on Alexandra Ballet's production of The Firebird. This information focuses on the other three pieces offered in the weekend's production; Napoli, de l'innocense, and Moldavian Suite.

These pieces have been carefully selected to accompany The Firebird in order to demonstrate the evolution of the art form. Ballet has traveled from the royal courts of France to Russia, Denmark, America, and of course, countries around the world. Each era has made its mark on ballet with the contributions of innovative teachers and choreographers who developed their own style within the discipline.

Napoli, The Firebird, and de l'innocense, are examples of a few of the hallmark changes in ballet through the centuries. The deceptively delicate style of the 19th Century Danish master, Bournonville, the avant-garde music of 20th Century Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, and the contemporary American feel of today's 21st Century ballet illustrate perfectly how very different classical ballets can be. And of course, we couldn't pay tribute to this beautiful art form without including a nod to the ethnic dances included in so many of the ballets throughout history. Moldavian Suite is our nod to those vibrant dances.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like any further information regarding this production--March 17 at 7:30 pm & March 18 at 2:00 pm at the Touhill PAC. I'll be sending more information and photos as the production nears.

Many thanks,

Jo Lucas
