CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
- Commissioners must be residents of San Francisco.
- Commissioners are appointed for terms of four (4) years with possible reappointment for up to twelve (12) years. Youth Commissioners may serve terms shorter than four years.
- Commissioners must attend Juvenile Justice Commission General Meetings, which are held each month from 5:30pm to 7:30pm (phone the JJC Office to verify meeting dates). In addition to the General Meetings, members of the JJC will also meet attending committee meetings and performing other work on behalf of the Commission. JJC members usually volunteer approximately fifteen (15) hours per month.
- Commissioners must participate in yearly inspections of the juvenile detention facility, Log Cabin Ranch School, group homes, and police stations/lockups. Participation includes attending inspections, reviewing documents, compiling findings, and reviewing inspection reports.
- Commissioners cannot be employees of any agency in the San Francisco juvenile justice system (including contractor of the Probation Department), and cannot be a member of a Commission with direct oversight of the Juvenile Probation Department.
