Beer Sailing Club Art Auction

The Art Auction is the second and last, Art based, fund raising event organised by the club to raise funds for the new club house. The first event was the Anonymous Art Exhibition that raised £2239, we are hoping to add another £2000 through this auction.

The paintings and prints have been donated by Andrew Coates, Eddie Burrows, Ray Balkwell, Bob Bradshaw and Julia King-Keast and possibly more by the auction day.

Many of you will know of Andrew Coates and we are very fortunate to have two original oil painting to auction that would fetch in excess of £1500 if bought in a gallery so there could be bargains to be had!

Eddie Burrows is becoming increasingly popular in the area with his depiction of Luggers and other sailing scenes. His painting of cruisers under spinnakers in the same style but with the modern boat twist could be especially popular.

Bob Bradshaw’s Beer Beach scene of luggers in water colour will be another popular subject not least amongst the Lugger sailors who rig up and race every Monday evening, if you look carefully you will recognise a few of the sailors.

Julia King-Keast has given us the elegant beach hut scene in water colour catching the simple relaxing atmosphere of beach hut life.

Ray Balkwell’s signed and number prints of scenes on the Exe again capture the tide in and tide out atmosphere perfectly, although not the originals none of the style or beauty of the scene is lost and as individuals or a pair they can only grace your wall. These will be offered individually although the highest bid on the first one, “Tide In” will be offered an option on the second at the same price.

The auction will be managed by Martin Diplock a professional auctioneer and all works will be available on the day to take away. We will have debit card facilities and if you cannot attend you can register a “commission bid” by sending your bid to Geoff Pook.
